It's not illegal in a lot of states to be under the influence and carry nor is it illegal in most states to be under the DWI limit ( or a variation thereof)while carrying.

So similar to open carry, a lot of cops don't like it, but who cares, it's not illegal.

Speaking of which, a little known secret to a lot of people... many, many, many LEO's carry while they are drinking, by drinking, I mean drunk off their chairs.

I'm not advocating that, it's not about being invincible, I guess I'm just not scared.... kind of like the people who would like to open carry but don't because they are afraid.

It wasn't too long ago that some one in Washoe County had a self defense shooting in a bar. He had a Nevada CFP, he was carrying... he turned out allright. By the logic of some people he would have been dead if they followed peoples "sound logic" here.

Most of that I would agree with, Jared. My comments were directly pertaining to carrying in MO under current MO law. If you come to MO and choose to have more than a few drinks and then go out and about in public armed, even if you are not legally intoxicated for driving, just be aware, as said earlier in the thread, that you may put yourself in a situation where you would be charged with felony carrying while under the influence. BAM - you can't carry anymore, can't own a gun, can't handle most firearms, etc.

It is not a matter of being "scared". It is a simple cost-benefit analysis. The cost of being arrested for, charged with, fighting and/or losing a charge of felony posession of a fiream while under the influence vs my desire to have adult beverages with friends vs the likelihood that now will be that one time I really need a firearm. If I am concerned that I will need my firearm in the immediate future I will stick with soft drinks. Regardless, 100% of the time I will forego the adult beverage or carrying a gun rather than risk the felony.

So no, this is nothing "kind of like the people who would like to open carry but don't because they are afraid." unless they are open carrying downtown NYC or Balitmore or DC or Chicago.

I'vepretty much stopped going out drinking but will enjoy a glass of beer or even a glass of wine with my dinner.

I am ready for trouble not looking for it, I prefer to go home and enjoy a scotch where I don't have to worry about my surroundings, when I'm out and about I want to be a 100% all the time, and hanging out with a bunch of drunks ain't my idea of a good time.

Although I would like to stop at a bar for a quick drink now and again, its not that important to me. I have better things to do then hang around bar flies.

This is true, in MO you would need to be careful, they elevated intoxicated while carrying (possession outside of ones home) to a felony when their shall-issue law passed.

Off topic, but I remember a couple of years ago, I was at a republican fundraiser in Rhode Island. I was carrying of course, I had a drink or two and someone said "Jared, I want to introduce you to someone" I turned around, and it was former Senator Chaffee (VERY ANTI-RKBA). I didn't have much to say to him, but I did find it funny that after he left, they took all the Chaffee propaganda off of the table. It showed how the republican party in RI really felt about him LOL

I know it's off topic, but the drinking and carrying thing made me think of this.
