Gun Owner Supports 'Open Carry' Legislation

FORT SMITH, Ark. -- More than 1,600 people have signed a petition in support of the controversial open carry handgun legislation currently being discussed in Little Rock.
Gun Owners Pushing For Open Carry Law
If the House Bill became law it would allow those with a license to freely carry their handgun in plain sight.
Right now handguns owners must conceal their holster and weapon in public.
Randy Kralicek received his concealed handgun license three years go. He said it is silly that the law requires him to hide his holster and weapon.
"When seconds count police are minutes away," said Kralicek. "If you're somebody coming into burglarize the place and they see someone there with a handgun they'll think twice about it."

Kralicek signed the online petition supporting the proposed open carry law in Arkansas.
Supporters argue the measure would help deter crime, while opponents say it would add more violence to the streets.
Kralicek is confident the legislation will pass and said it would uphold law-abiding citizens rights.
"When I got my concealed deal they did a thorough background check, and I think that's what needs to be done," said Kralicek. "I don't want to see people out there that don't know how to handle one with it."
The Arkansas House bill is currently being discussed in committee.
