We are now running on a new, and hopefully much-improved, server. In addition we are also on new forum software. Any move entails a lot of technical details and I suspect we will encounter a few issues as the new server goes live. Please be patient with us. It will be worth it! :)
Please help by posting all issues here.
The forum will be down for about an hour this weekend for maintenance. I apologize for the inconvenience.
I just visited the sheriff's office (at the courthouse) in Harrisburg PA. And I went armed.
That's right. Fully armed, I walked through the morning streets of downtown Harrisburg and entered the courthouse fully armed and fully legal. What you may ask is the secret to this trick? The answer...
Congratulations.
This is a major step forward. Amazing really. Not the whole enchilada, but amazing none the less. There may yet be hope for Maryland and DC.
Well done.
Today, I saw a unicorn at the Fairfax Costco of all places.
A young man shopping with his mother was open carrying. Very openly.
He was doing the Virginia tuck while wearing a white polo shirt. The gun was very observable.
I complemented him on his gun, a Walther P22. Not my choice for SD...
I am not what you would call a nature boy so my experience with this is limited. But the wife is dragging me to Wintergreen Ski Resort which is in George Washington National Forest. I plan on spending "my" time drinking hot cocoa and reading a book. But of course plan on being protected from...
I recently upgraded my DVR from an Olympus WS-500M to a WS-700M. It was a good decision.
The new features that I really like:
1. 4 GB memory
2. Micro SD capable, I got a 32 GB card for it.
3. Battery door attached to the recorder so it doesn't fall off.
4. Can disable the stupid LED recording...
I do not know where this attack occurred, but my question is whether in Virginia the use of deadly force would be justified in this case to protect this girl from death or serious bodily injury. Note I do not know her current condition.

I had thought that the changes last year allowed the leaving of a loaded firearm in a "SECURED container or compartment" in a motor vehicle while at an elementary school. But the only reference I can find is
§ 18.2-308.B.10. Any person who may lawfully possess a firearm and is carrying a...
On another thread, Novacop addresses the question of whether it is legal to decline an officer's invitation to exit a vehicle. But how does this apply while armed if you are on school property? If you step out of the vehicle while armed in the school parking lot - FELONY. If you attempt to...
Often Catholic Schools share a common parking lot with the Catholic Church. Where does that leave us with carrying into the church, assuming no one has learned how to tele-port from their car to the church without setting foot in the parking lot?

Regarding leaving a hand gun in the car while at a school, the law says it must be unloaded and in a closed container. It does not say it must be locked.
For the legal purpose of complying with this law, is a compartment of the car, either the center console or the glove box...

Sorry if this is a repeat.

With school about to start I thought it would be a good idea to check on school rules to make sure I stay on the outside of a cell.
My understanding is that with a CHP you can carry concealed in car in the parking lot driveway etc. But you can NOT get out of the car with the...

When doing the Virginia Tuck with a black gun and a black shirt would this count as OC or CC? I think it is discrete but not concealed.
I have been doing this for a while, but wanted to get a few other opinions.
Thanks.

Sorry, I really don't agree with moving this thread to the District forum. It really was a written for Virginians who have to travel to the District, and the discomfort this causes.
No offence intended.
