I think most will establishments will "ban" guns and post the notice on some page of their website bur won't enforce it because as we all know, if it's truly concealed, who knows you have it? And when your employees are disarmed, how do you make the criminal leave?

And you'd be wrong.

This is also an open carry forum.

Yeah no ****. I believe we've spoken several times on the NRA in Wisconsin Facebook page, so you already know that I OC all day and rarely CC except when I feel like it or when the weather is bad.

I was simply giving an example of why they may "ban" guns and not enforce it.

Primus,.we haven't had that wrasslin match. Bring your clappers. Kiss kiss sweetheart

No wonder some people think we are sexist red necks, cruder than bunker oil :uhoh:

Please take this private, I really don't want to sit anybody in the corner over their joking, but this is a public forum where we are subject to be quoted at any given time.

New to site and have not read every post in this thread. Eat at Olive Gardens in Wausau as well as Red Lobster in Eau Claire. I realize they are both owned by Darden, or were.

Both have no gun signs, but underneath it says except with legal concealed carry permit. Or, something like that. Does NOT say your firearm must be concealed, only that you need the permit. (CCL)

At Red Lobster in Eau Claire son said can't carry here Dad. Read it a little closer and read that since I DO have a CCL that I could carry. So, open carried into resturant, ended up being seated in a booth by kitchen door and sitting with firearm facing room. I'm fairly certain several other patrons saw me, our waitress had to have noticed, and anyone going into the kitchen could have seen it easily.

I figured I might have management want to see my CCL, which I would have willing shown under those conditions. Nothing was said to me at all,by anyone. Our waitress was fantastic, spent $100.00 on meals, no drinks. I'm not a big fan of Red Lobster, but where son wanted to go for his birthday dinner. Even less of a fan of the sign. If they are going to word it that way, it seems kind of pointless to me. I suppose some might see the red circle and not read the writing? It also seems like if management is going to post that, then they should ask any OC to see their license? Not that I'm volunteering or anything, it just seems like a strange position to take. Kind of wishy washy in mind.

Absolutely improper. Even a cop is legally limited.

I agree.

Their sign is the issue. I've never seen that anywhere else. I think it actually said "except with a valid conceal carry permit" might have been license? So, there's a lot to find wrong with that starting with Wisconsin has a license, not a permit.

However, if they have that sign in the door, saying you must have a "permit" to enter with a firearm, wouldn't it stand to reason that they would want to possibly see it? Or, is the whole thing invalid as the sign is not legal?

I not a lawyer, reading laws in depth makes my head hurt. I don't know the answer here and trying to make a point. I'm asking because I'm unsure.

Seated by the kitchen door (do you know that is an insult?) would be enough to keep me away, with or without putting my money on trespass notice.

Yes I am aware of that, I worked for SYSCO for 18 years, which was also an insult. However, I had not thought of that being the possible reason for being seated there. If I had to guess, I would say the hostess did not notice firearm when seated. They were not particularly busy. This was our son's choice for a resturant, and the one and only time I have ever been into a Red Lobster. Probably not going back, $100.00 is entirely too much money for three people, though wife and son both had lobster, and I had a steak. Personally, I like Texas Roadhouse, if we are doing a chain resturant thing.

Foster and Smith's retail store in Rhinelander is posted, as noted here. I have several personal friends that work in the store, as well as in the warehouse.

However, the main office in the warehouse is where you have to go to get will-call items and they do NOT have a no gun sign at that door.

I removed my firearm to go in the retail store, always make mention of it. They would probably ask me about it if I didn't now! When I drove around to will-call to pick up my item I noticed no sign so went back and rearmed before I went inside. The secretary I think saw my firearm but never said anything. Seems kind of strange.

The Virginia Darden Industries restaurants (Red Lobster & Olive Garden) haven't had any gun buster signs for years. Have had a few OC meetings in them - guess our money is good.

If the sign is not legal then disregard.

Toyota dealer in Wausau now has a no gun sign in the front door. Did not check other doors. Went there for some parts but ended up buying at NAPA instead and probably saved money.

Stopped at front door, returned to vehicle to disarm and was met at front door by a salesman who asked if he could help me? Pointed at sign, said I was planning to buy a new Tundra but I'll get if somewhere else. Didn't wait for him to respond, already running late. Probabły should have or talked to manager, but didn't.

This used to be Rosemurgy but now seems to be Toyota of Wausau. Did stop also at Kocourek Ford and also at Nissan and no signs there. Needed something for the Maxima and F150 would be my second choice. All up on K and bus 51 across from Fleet Farm.

Planning to buy a new truck, either Toyota or Ford in the spring.

1 bank, 1 credit union in Prescott

First National Bank, Prescott. I told them I didn't like their No guns allowed signs. Guy said they didn't want a shoot out.
I tried to explain gun free zones promote them, he did not want to listen.
While looking for new bank in Prescott, West-consin Credit Union has "No weapons" sign.
I switched all accounts to BMO Harris, no sign there and many locations.

Just bought a 2014 Toyota Tundra from Rhinelander Toyota. In there a couple of times while the weather was still warm OC with no issues. Apparently, every black gun looks like a Glock, even if it's a Sig? Told the salesman, financial guy, and one of the big wigs about my Wausau Toyota experience and they all said "we hate those guys" basically. Anyway, you get a tell us about your buying experience survey that is about a thousand questions from Toyota when you buy a new vehicle. One of the questions was which other dealers did you visit, and why did you not buy there but from this one instead. So, I put the no gun sign in there every chance I had just for good measure. I'm sure there is some executive in Japan falling on his sword right now, due to failure. Maybe not. I doubt I'll hear a word about it and my survey was probably thrown out as being filled out by some radical right wing extremist nut job. Oh well.

Noticed the gun buster on the way out and it was on the bottom of the window about ankle high next to the door frame not very noticeable.
