If you are familiar with the Triangle pit or “Suicide Pit” as it’s known. You know it’s a mess. It’s one of the few public pits that are still open even with as messy as it is. The Washington Hometown forum on ar15.com got together a while back and attempted to do a cleanup on our own with very little success. 25+ people for 10 hours and hardly made a dent. Now we didn’t have the blessing of DNR or any other type of support, we just did it out of our own pocket.


This time around it looks like DNR has given the cleanup its blessing and will even be providing a dumpster.



Too many pits have been shut down due to people not picking up after themselves when they go shooting. If you have the time, come on down and lend a hand on the 24[suP]th[/suP].

Hmm not sure how I missed this one, but here's a report from this cleanup, thanks for all the support;

20 volunteers took 11 full trucks of crap to the dumpster.

250+ man hours barely made a dent? Ouch.

I hate to say it but they should close it if there are so many people acting irresponsibly. How could it be worth it to clean it up if it's still open to any tar-tar who's gonna shoot up his trash and not pick up after himself? Cleaning up the pit would only reinforce the poor habits of the lowlifes when they show up to a clean pit after dumping their trash last week.

I shoot at an active quarry owned by a friend and I wouldn't dream of leaving behind anything other than the lead in the ground and some shattered clay. I pick up every casing, shotshell, and target.

EDIT: A refrigerator and computer monitor?! Wow, that stuff needs to be recycled properly.[omitted huge rant after thinking about it again]

How could it be worth it to clean it up if it's still open to any tar-tar who's gonna shoot up his trash and not pick up after himself?

Cause its cheaper to clean one spot than 100's through-out the woods.

no for once i missed in ya ya keep in mind i have been at EVERY SINGLE ONE since we got that part of the highway.... I dont see alot of people from here helping out....

But how many "people from here" live within a reasonable distance from the stretch of highway?

that i do not know but we have had people drive all the way from Vancouver to help out so.... distance isnt really the issue now is it?

For me it would depend. Do I have the gas money, time available/off work et cetera.

I drove 2 hours to an OC dinner but the planets practically aligned themselveson that date. For something more local it's much easier to make arrangements. Lynnwood highway pickup, count me in; Federal Way or wherever, it's gonna depend on a bunch of different things.

We all have lives outside of supporting the 2nd Amendment, and each of us has different priorities and different responsibilities. I'm not going to throw a fit if people don't line up their lives the way I do. So who cares if it's the distance or if they just wanted to sleep in?

I'm none too ******* happy either....

I wasted a 1/4 tank of gas going up there...The pick up was cancelled because not enough people showed....


THREE people showed up, including M1gunr who started the whole thing....

I had a bunch of people say they'd be there, all of which backed out except one...

Utter F'in BS...

I hate people that I can't rely on. If you SAY you're going to do something, then DO IT.

I would come to a few litter pickups but its just too far. At this time. Lack of work is killing my drive to drive long distances.
