Do any of you have a reason that the activity level here has been so low of late? Is it because Biden is president (for now) and the outlook for our Second Amendment rights doesn't look particularly good?

many, many, years ago i queried that same question to the late great grapeshot, who stated flatly its always dead this time of the year...🤔🤔

come to discover he was right - it picked up...

that stated forum conversations have toddled to the other social media venues...

ps:
review other firearm forums' threads/postings which are selling/buying, or pushing irrelevant nonsense, or OMGoodness the PA shooting nonsense...even these are slow in the postings regarding OC/CC or statutory issues!

Dopey Joe is not my president. My Second Amendment Right is granted by my Creator and not subject to the whims of Sedevacantist politics. The conspiracy of ignorance masquerades as common sense.

I check in every morning in precisely the same sequence of my reading.

I suppose that I am waiting for the absent janitor to clean up Dog Boy’s leavings.

I have recently finished re-reading Nineteen Eighty-four. I am reading, and will be for some time, On Nineteen Eighty-four: Orwell and Our Future (Gleason, Goldsmith, Nussmaum ed’s), a collection of essays, the first of which, ‘A Defense of Poesy (The Treatise of Julia)’ by Elaine Scarry (Princeton University Press. Scribd.) is a gem. I have finished Alexandr Solzhenitsyn’s The GULAG Archipelago Vol-I. I am waiting for issue of ‘12 More Rules” by Jordan Peterson.

We, 72 and 82 are well and healthy, have been. We are about packed for ten weeks in open rural Florida bicycling the Withlacoochee SP bike trail where we were when the Plandemic hysteria was declared.

And now an inevitable word from Dog Boy Solus Ipse.

Your in a stanch anti-open carry state, unless, of course, you have your Ronco Pocket Fisherman close at hand. Don't wander far from the Withlacoochee river.

JT, et al., of course the out-of-the blue and unprovoked degrading commentary expressed by dougie towards another member is/could also be a prime consideration why this premium OC information forum is not frequented by JQPublic nor former membership...

just a leap of faith, but could be a causal factor...

This would be a better place if both of you clowns were gone. I put the blame 55/45, you can take your pick who wants to be which. You two are the exact reason I no longer come here much. Probably even less now.

What are there about 8-10 regular posters here? That’s pathetic. It might be the “premier” open carry site, but there ain’t much premier about it.

Sadly, I think the MAIN issue with this OC site being so "slow" (and I'd say it'd ALSO be true of any OTHER OC site, even IF there were any!) is this: HARDLY ANYONE open-carries their EDC gun or are they EVER going to open-carry it...probably for the lame, baseless and unsubstantiated reasons we keep hearing about which (apparently) convince people that OCing is not a good idea, yet we can't seem to counter/dispel those myths with the TRUTH as those same people just won't listen. ESPECIALLY people who DO EDC but CC only. I OC (of course) every day I go out here in the "great" state of CO but I very rarely see anyone else OCing.

So, when I interact with people I meet while out & about -- when someone sees my OC gun and asks me about it, why I'm carrying, or whatever -- I only (besides giving them my "card') encourage them to get their CC permit, as I know they ALSO probably won't want to OC. Consequently, given that reality (as I've experienced it) all I try to do is get them to stop going about unarmed, stop "thinking about" getting their permit (if one is required in their state), get busy GETTING it, and start CARRYING.

As I said, 99.9% of them will CC only so I don't "push" OC -- at all. I just "advertise" it vs. trying to "sell" it. ;-)

So while I agree with you there certainly ARE "issues" here (unfortunately) re: members going at each other (one reason *I* was away for a while way back when) -- counter-productive flame-wars/grudges or posts digressing into the esoteric -- my point is the problem is much larger than all of us here. IMO, this site will NEVER be very active, as I don't see any way to get more people in America to OC...ESPECIALLY people who already carry, but CC only: THEY are our worst critics and (being so incurably myopic and blissfully ignorant about OCing) would have zero interest in joining an OC site.

I guess all we can do is leave OpenCarryOrg plugged-into Life Support (as long as the Admin/Owner pays to do so, yes?), but the prognosis doesn't look good: The patient may never fully recover, just continue in a coma indefinitely. :-(

Personally, I have no remedy to offer...

Infighting/bickering on a forum is not unusual. My experience is this forum is mild compared to MOST other forums. Not taking sides, but if you actually looked at the history of some of the jabs, they are based on long past history. Some have been banned and have been allowed to return. Some have come here just looking for a fight. If you can't look past it, you may as well craw into a hole.

Here is my question. What forum(s) present good legal analysis of state and federal gun law? I would put this forum up against any of them.

Its not the cowboys that stampede the herd but its the wannabe cowboys. In reality they do not sit the saddle as tall as they do in their dreams.

AP, another typical attempt at hurling unsolicited degrading commentary towards members but in your true fashion spoken like as the authentic tenderfoot you've proven to be...

I remember as a small child my dad telling me that if a rock was thrown into a pig pen the one that squealed was the one that got hit.

The question should be expanded to not only where has everyone gone but why did they go?

Alas cloudcraft nicely stated, but...
as you commented regarding co gun owners forum crashing what 2+ years ago...inattention by admin/mods and it died and was taken over by spam...

the new co gun forum...myriad of posts about nada of importance...

north or south western firearms forums...created, pushed, and hustled by owner as replacement for back page forum outta AZ. Oh and these sites have closed off blocks of areas which are invitees only?

waguns forum selling guns is it's principle purpose as is nonsensical non-firearm related threads...workman's corner inactivity is languishing with minimum posting to nor read, sparks's blocks about the same.

bottom line...the membership of this forum was from inception and still is singularly focused on one subject ~ this nation's citizens OC'g activities, period. Forum membership has beat the CC danger myths to death showing the inadequate arguments by asking for objective and substantive evidence about myths - which in the majority of cases was never produced!

the group in my humble opinion was successful throughout the years in changing state/community/citizens perspectives, laws, and so forth!

bottom line, cloudcraft, et al., the practice of OC'g is accepted, no matter what the die hard CC's rant fanatically against the practice.

JT, et al., where is everyone...well seems after 14 years of this promoting and dispelling the myths about OC being dangerous everyone has learned that OC is an accepted activity and all a newbie carrier reader has to do is scan, instead of raising the question to anyone, the pages of the wealth of information to glean the information they seek.

handgunlaw.us directs their readers here not to ask the question but rather seek the answer.

Here's one of the main reasons for OCDO's slowdown:

That's not what the map looked like 20 years ago. Of the five states that don't allow OC, only Florida and South Carolina have a chance of flipping.

Of the 15 states that require a permit to OC, five of them (MA, CT, RI, NJ, MD) will never flip. In at least MA, NJ, and MD, any mere mortal who obtains a license would never dare OC, because the license could be revoked for "suitability".

So, there are only 12 states that can reasonably be improved. The efforts there are in state-level groups.

Given the rancor here, it's become a poor place to organize efforts to legalize and normalize OC.

KB, et al., a review of the map's code shows the purdy OC map you posted was last updated: "og:image:alt" content="OC_Summary-2016"
or...line 106: <meta name="twitter:image" content="https://opencarry.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/OC_Summary-2016.png?w=640"

so OC map is grossly neglected and outdated...

also per rule # 5 KB, who are the 15 states & where did the rest of your data you are espousing come from surely not from a 5 year olde unmaintained graphic?

your perception FL & SC have a chance of flipping...and relaying on state level firearm groups you have got to be kidding - aren't you?

Look at the debacle in TX as the 'groups' fought amongst themselves to determine even a forward strategy...ya worked well, Texans can OC IF THEY HAVE A STATE PRIVILEDGE CARD...oh ya and the nice LEs can unequivocally w/o RAS walk up to an citizen OC'r and state "PAPERS PLEASE" to show their overseer issued card!

the other forums i previously cited are still arguing that OC is dangerous so they are going to be tremendous help aren't they...
