Bummer. I liked their burgers. But it's not like there aren't plenty of decent burgers in Texas, so I will oblige them and spend my money elsewhere while visiting, EVEN WHEN I'M CONCEALING.

Yeah, it's unfortunate, I like their food as well, but as MAC702 said, there are plenty of other good burger choices, both chain and local. :)

From a customer standpoint, it's not a huge loss to me because I think their food is pretty bad.

What I can't stand though is when companies go on and on about their support of the second amendment and how they serve the gun rights community yet they ban open carry. You either support the second amendment or you cater to people that cry about being uncomfortable. I will never support a business that does the latter.

Will leave 2A cards with them - No 2A, no cash. Guess they plan to put up Gunbuster signs. Got In/Out burger new to town, Becks burgers,. I expect they will 're-evaluate' their position when others say it is Okay. Will be a LOT of money lost with their crowd.

+1 Couldn't have said it better myself!

WhatABurger's corporate policy has been no OC guns for several years. It's just making the news in Texas because those folks are eventually going to get licensed OC.

I'd rather talk about how some franchise owners and corporate managers of other eateries (no names, please, to protect them and us) are quietly ignoring corporate policy.

stay safe.

I think that this has more to do with getting ready for OC, and taking the corporate way out (what makes them the most money) in saying one thing in public to calm the sheeple (so they won't have to face guns, you know, for the children) while not actually banning CC (so that we will simply cover and then go in). It's probably a good win-win for them as it will probably alienate the fewest. Frankly, I expect that we will see a lot of things like this as we get closer to January.

To be honest, for every gun person they tork off there is probably 2-3, or 50 that are happy about the no gun policy. I don't know what the numbers are, but I would bet it is heavily against us. Some of those may not go there either if they DO allow guns. Allowing concealed but not open really only hides the issue and makes people FEEL better, as I see it.

Having said that, I've never been to one and don't know where the nearest one is. If there is an alternative to whatever they are selling that does not infringe on me, I will do business there.

I open carry everywhere I can, all the time. I've only made one exception, for the Foster and Smith Retail Store in Rhinander, WI. I have a yellow plastic banana that I open carry in my holster, along with two loaded mags on weak side. I've had a nice talk with the manager, and usually some customers about every time I've been there. Always pleasant, never get mad no matter what is said to me. The Manager put it off on corporate, they are now owned by PetCo, but it was that way before. The yellow banana attracts more attention than a black gun does, so it seems.

We went thru some of this in WI shortly after we got CC, finally in 2011. We had some open carry before, but not the same intensity as Texas I don't believe. A lot of those signs have come down over the last couple of years. Give it some time for people to actually see it is not an issue, and maybe they lost some business due to their decision. It's a small step backwards for a future big step forward most likely. Normalization of open carry for normal citizens is a pretty big pill to grasp for non gun people apparently.

Ah yes, the costco "have your anti gun cake and eat it too" anti gun policy.

Like costco, funny how many so-called gun owners will support whattacrapburger's anti gun policy as well, e.g. "concealed means concealed".

Whataburger is pretty much like Culvers. Remember, flavor is made out of cholesterol.

Ahh, the Butterburger at Culvers. There is so much grease in the air at that place you need a shower when you leave. On the good side, the slide rails on the Sig are good for another round. Our Culvers are all open carry good to go. I eat there every once in a while if my pants start getting too oose even for the IWB holster.

They have great onion rings but too much money for having them bring your food to the table.

For me, if I had any interest in going to Whataburger, I'd be taking the position that they don't want my money and I wouldn't simply go nut CC. But as I'm a Vegan, their policy won't have any impact upon me personally as they have nothing that I would eat!

Texas Monthly put together a video compilation of fights in Whataburger stores. Apparently they cater to late-night drunks who behave badly with some regularity.
Having grown up eating Whataburger as the occasional Saturday night treat, I have not eaten there since they began posting signs emphasizing that "We are ONE nation UNDER GOD". I prefer to take my meals without a peripheral agenda.
I have also been having a FB convo about this with a retired police officer and his friends. People seem to think that OC is about compensating for genital size - a hurdle we will slowly overcome when they realize OC is just CC with a tucked in shirt. Texas has been without guns in the public square longer than any other state, so it will take some time and many well-behaved OC'ers before it is accepted as normal. Only then will be have a chance at unlicensed carry.

That's nice.
