What is the average time to receive a CCL renewal?

Yesterday (Monday 10/24/16) morning about 9am my son used our computer to go online and renew his CCL. Today at 1pm he called and said "guess what I just got in the mail!"

Is that generally the turn around for renewals, 1 day? I thought they had to re-do backgrounds and such. He originally got his renewal notification back in July. He waited because his didn't expire until late November. He'd probably of waited longer if he knew it was only going to take 1 day.

For those of you that re-newed what was your wait time?

Once the Department of Justice is in possession of the application, along with training documentation, and payment for a processing fee not to exceed $37, and a $13 fee for a background check, they will have 21 days to either issue or deny the license.

Unless suspended or revoked, a license will remain in effect for five years. At least 90 days prior to the license’s expiration, the Department of Justice will be tasked with mailing the license holder both a notice of expiration and a license renewal form. Renewal fees can not exceed $12.

He paid $22 total
3. Pays a renewal fee in an amount to be determined by DOJ, but not to exceed $12.
4. Pays a fee for a background check that is equal to the fee under § 175.35(2i). [Currently, this fee is $10.] Wis. Stat. § 175.60(15)(b).

DOJ shall issue a renewal license within 21 days of receiving the renewal application, statement and fees. Wis. Stat. § 175.60(15)(d).

That would be the correct total: $12. + $10 = $22.

That's what I was saying. It was a grand total of $22 with everything.

Which is $22 more than it should cost to exercise a right.

Actually, thanks for the info. My renewal comes up next month, but I haven't checked into the process yet - so this gives me a head start. I agree, that's a lot more than we should have to pay just to drape a shirt over it!

22 dollars for 5 years is superb. Response time was superb. Wisconsin is superb. Extremely satisfied with the process and the firearm statutes here.

There will be no state Constitutional Carry while there is money to be made selling Privileges 4 Permitees.

It is simple rice-bowl politics nurtured by a favorite ox's leavings in the paddy field.

That has been said about every other state that went constitutional carry in the last couple of decades.

Any chance you moved or something and didn't notify them? (If so...rectify that ASAP...)

I got my letter almost 4 months before my renewal was due.

Something is not right if you have not yet received a letter in the mail with your assigned DOJ User ID. You will need to have yours or to generate one before you can use the On-Line renewal https://concealedcarry.doj.wi.gov/ccwonline/steps/startGenerateNewCCWUID.html#!

Well, I appreciate your concern guys, but there's no problem - I did get the letter about a month ago (from both Wisconsin and Utah.) But after reading the thread about the problem with early renewal (http://forum.opencarry.org/forums/showthread.php?133524-Something-to-consider-when-renewing-your-CCL) I'm waiting until the last week, or even after my CCL expires, to renew it (I don't care if I need to OC exclusively for a couple weeks, if the license is delayed for some reason.)

I guess I was being too vague when I stated that I haven't checked into the process yet... what I meant was that I had opened the letters and skimmed them, saw that I could renew online, and pretty much stopped paying attention at that point. What I haven't done yet is read each letter in detail, visit the website, see what the renewal process entails, make sure credit cards are accepted*, that sort of thing... a higher level of checking into the process! :D

My bad for being vague, but thanks for the advice anyway.

* I see now that they are. None of this process will be difficult, I'm sure, but at the time I skimmed those letters I had other things on my mind, and knew I wouldn't have to deal with this for a while.

Livin' rent free in your head - after all these years.

LOL, don't flatter yourself... it certainly doesn't take much to remember someone's name, or even their oft-touted habits!

But in order of hours used, I use AdBlock browser for iOS by EYEO, Onion by TOR, and BRAVE.

Like I said... the other 0.01% Sounds like paranoia is livin' rent-free in someone's head!
