Well it happens that I did factor those concerns in. I also practice a lot compared to some folks. My usual primary's are identical double stack 45's. My back ups are identical to one another but of a smaller caliber. Practice often and do so as if your life depends on it. Because it does. On those days when I feel like changing things up I switch to another platform (rhymes with rock... I know...I know) that are extremely alike just as above - backups in the lighter 9mm cal.
Remember folks:

Doesn't matter if you carry one gun or 12, if you can't put them rounds where & only where they need to go, your're in for a bad time. Stay safe and carry on ladies & gents. ;)

Have you seen any of the 511 tactical mag pouches? They fit 2x .45 mags pretty easily. The molle clips fit pretty well on a 1 3/4 inch belt.
Yep - wearing one now. They are not as quick as an open top mag pouch, but they will keep the weather out better.

My question would be, regarding changing pistols, is, would it have complications as far as having to switch function/feel in the middle of a gunfight? Meaning, when you change mags, you're still shooting the safe firearms. You (theoretically) only have to become proficient with one. If you carry 4 different weapons, assuming they aren't the same model or of same function, then you'd have to stay proficient with 4 different weapons and be able to think through, in the heat of the moment, which one you are switching to and how it functions differently (safety here instead of there, striker vs. hammer fire, SA/DA vs. DA only, long hard trigger pull vs. softer more smooth trigger pull, 7 round magazine capacity vs. 16 round magazine capacity, etc. etc. etc)

I just wonder if it could be an issue. I guess maybe not if you practised and trained enough.

All my carry revolvers have the same manual of arms - S&W style. Some are big; some are little; they all work just the same way.

Obviously not all at once. Usually no more than 2. All depends on the day.

Have too many to choose from. By the time I make up my mind on which gun to carry for the days outing, its bed time again....(usually one of the Glocks or SIG)

S&W SD9VE all day, everyday. If I have to go somewhere that doesn't allow carry, except College, I send in the minions.
That's a little bit like using .22 cal pistol as bear defense isn't it? :p

A .22 cal doesn't have to stop the bear. Just shoot your buddy in the foot so as to slow him down = bear gets to him first.

Funny but true...

OTOH I have been carrying my Star Super everyday, at least until I am more healed. While not the lightest gun it is very comfortable in a belt slide holster. It has been accompanying me every since I got out of the hospital. Eventually I will go back to my revolver, but for now the Star fits.

I have friends that CHOOSE to be unarmed. Since they're already unarmed and foregoing their own self defense, I figure I may as well maintain my ability to defend myself and others and just let them go inside instead. In general practice this would be at small shops that you can see the whole store from the parking lot anyway. CPZ sign or not, if I'm standing outside and see someone doing something hinky through the window I'm probably not just going to stand there and watch. First step will be to call PD and advise situation and that I am armed and attempting to defuse. After that, who knows, but "Stand there like a statue" isn't not on my list of options.

Not attacking you personally.

"Send the minions in" is not on my list of options. Would I send in my GF in if she were not armed (she is) or my grandkids? Absolutely not! I do not put those I love at risk, particularly those I am for whatever reason unwilling to take. If I become an unarmed/unprotected potential victim by entering, so do they.

Secondly - by entering or sending others in, we remove the "No Guns = No Money" condition from our set of standards.

I understand that your friends are entering voluntarily (not being forced) and that standing perimeter security is better than doing nothing.

I am confused.

You bought a 1st gen,
but it has a 2nd gen receiver,
and a 2nd gen barrel and slide.

Sooo where was a serial number that checks out as a 1st gen gun???
Sounds to me like your gun is now Really a 2nd gen!
