Paranoid nonsense? really??
Not everyone lives in AZ and is afforded a bull@#$%t-free day when carrying.

Watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3GlEe1kCHA
Here is the unedited version, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7B_yw1iYKpA&feature=relatedwatch the volume, lost of foul language from thr lovely "public servant" yes I have had encounters with a-holes like this, on more than one occasion
I have had contacts very similar to what Mr Darrow has had to endure, and there are stories of O-C'ers seeing the same stuff, just ask a few MI guys about the crap cops have pulled on them. I picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth a million!!

If I lived in an area where I could expect harrassment every time I carry (such as the east-coast, Kaliphornia, Ohio, or MI) I would turn it on before I evenleave the house, that way nothing will be missed if a disturbing situation happens.
The last thing I want to do is try to reach for the record button if I am on the receiving end of a loud-mouthed rights trampling cop going out of their way to be a snapper-head. I would not even want them to know they were being recorded. That way they will provide a long enough rope to hang themselves with.

I keep a digital camera in my truckwhich is readyto be placed on the dashboard if I get pulled over, it as able to capture 45 minutes of video with a 1/2-Meg card in it. I am hoping to add a hidden video & GPSrecording/ system that records the gauges, & front view through the windshield whenever the truck is occupied.

Sonora, Ya wanna redact your statement now ?

@ sonora - not really. If you never have had a need for one, I could understand your perspective. Lucky you :)

@ Nutz - I understand about not wanting to have to fiddle with the record button. It's a legitimate answer.

No... 'cause I've got better sense than to live someplace other than Arizona. It's not accidental that I'm here. Some people apparently enjoy being victimized... even by their own government JBT authorities.

So are you saying that we all should live in AZ? Maybe when I am in my 80's, i'll consider it. I visted that place once, and chose to stay where I am.

Then don't complain. You get the government you deserve when you vote for it. Arizona's just geography... Youmake where you live what it is. If you can't change it... move... or revolt.

Funny, you could say the same things about Florida, or Tennesee :)

I voted when I leave the house. The recorder I picked up will record in high quality for 17 hours. I'm never out of the house that long so I don't have to worry about running out of tape. But I have to admit, the last couple of times leaving the house I have forgotten to bring it along.
I still need to pick up an external mic 'cause I have learned that I get some interference from wearing it under my shirt. Someone in another thread recommended the olympus tp 7. Which I plan on picking up soon.

@ sab - yeah, it's hell on the ears if you stick your recorder in your pocket and you have to go back and listen to the first 20 minutes of something because you don't know exactly when the stuff started to happen. Nothing worse than listening to 28 minutes and 25 seconds of sandpaper sounds.

Can't say the thought has ever even crossed my mind. Personally, I'd be a LOT more likely to purchase and use concealable body armor before a voice recorder.

Just picked up that mic this evening and what a difference. The nice thing about it is it can be worn in the ear so that it looks like you have an mp3 player earbud or a wired hands free device for the cell phone. After picking it up from radio shack I stopped by a grocery store and you can hear everything. The music over the loudspeakers, the voices over the P.A., and the beeps and automated voice from the self checkout loud and clear. All without the scratchy sandpaper sound that bohdi pointed out.

Worth every penny you paid for it :lol:I don't leave home without it ...

If you ever have an incident, take a regular tape recorder and place the digital on the regular tape and give a COPY to LEO/attorney. NEVER let the original out of your possession! If you ever end up in court, take the original device and recording with you, but you should only use it if the LEO copy has been altered in any way.

Remember, it is up to you to guard your Rights and Honor and the DA/LEO will do everything they can to make you look like a BG. Especially if they are looking like idiots by going after you.

I try to remember my recorder every time I leave the house and open carry. I usually do not turn it on until I see a cop, but AAA batteries don't cost too much, so I have started recording the minute I get out of my car in any public place.

Personal video and audio recorders are going to be your best defense against oppressive cops at the scene and best offenseagainst them incourt.

For the time being that I am here in a tyrant occupied state, I carry not less than 2 when going out and about with my daily life. Whether CCing or OCing, this state is full of dangerous and mean police backed by unconstitutional laws, and I have found it imperative to carry recorders.

I haven't needed one in quite some time, because MOC has been doing its job well, and educating police. But when recorders are needed, they are worth their weight in gold, relative to court costs and law suits.

I've had occasions where I felt like I should have had on a level 4 vest in Detroit. But it's never something I wanted in Phoenix, and I've spent quite a bit more time there.

And yeah, a recorder in the valley would be about as useful as a down jacket in july.
