I know there is a law in La concerning vehicle carry in company parking lot. I know it talks about "controlled access, such as gates or guard shack" vs "open to public." I know that Gov Jindal signed this into law a few years ago, maybe 2009-2010. My employer made it a special point to issue a memo, basically "we don't care what the law says, the company policy remains the same." Its recently become a point of discussion at work, and I want to reread the law since its been a few years. I've had no success finding it in the revised statues, so I'm thinking it may be in another body of law, but I'm not big on the research.

Thanks in advance !

Ok... I'll help you with this. But ya gotta make a LOCAL meeting in return :)

Go here:
http://www.legis.la.gov/legis/LawSearch.aspx

Scroll down a bit and click the appropriate law source. In this case it's Revised Statutes.

Type "vehicle and firearm" in the "search for:" cell, then hit the SEARCH button...

The statute you seek(RS 32.292.1) should be the first on the list.

Short cut - http://legis.la.gov/lss/lss.asp?doc=630878

This law removes the issue of trespass if you have a firearm on certain private property in a locked vehicle. However, it doesn't keep them from firing you. It's one of those feel good laws with no teeth.

Super! Thanks George!

I was on the right site, in the right search box, but I wasn't typing in the right keywords.

LOCAL meetings are first Wednesday of the month in Laplace, right? would that be tomorrow?

edit: The next regular meeting of SouthEast La Chapter of Louisiana Open Carry Awareness League (LOCAL) will be Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 6:30pm at the LaPlace IHOP resturant, 220 Belle Terre Boulevard, LaPlace, LA 70068.
