Vailnewspaper prints a story about open carry in Vail, Aspen and the rest of Colorado:

http://www.vaildaily.com/article/20071023/NEWS/71022118

You can even wear a loaded gun on your hip, cowboy-style or any other way, as long as it’s in plain sight and you don’t shoot it off inside of city limits.

Sgt. Steven Spencer of Garfield County said he has responded to calls from new residents worried about gunfire in their rural neighborhood, and in all cases he has found it involved target shooters who were acting legally.

Aspen Police Sgt. Brian Nichols recalled an incident several years ago, when he was called upon to talk to a man eating in a local restaurant who was carrying a pistol in a holster on his belt, in plain sight.

The man told Nichols he was wearing the gun “for his own personal protection. He was a former military guy and was kind of permanently in that mode.”

“We had a nice, friendly conversation and that was that,” Nichols said.

The man kept his gun on his belt, and Nichols walked away.

It's a pretty straightforward story, informing the general public about guns (both handguns and long guns) in public.

Except for one or two spots, it was surprisingly even-handed. Good work by Vail Daily.

Being part of Utah's Deseret News Article concerning OCing in Utah I feel that this was a VERY good Article and such Article should be even more Expressed in Utah. But who Knows...on Nov 17 @ 2Pm in Layton, Utah @ Golden Corral we will have another OC dinner and can maybe have some more media attention to spread the "Gospel" that Firearms can LEGALLY be carried in Public:celebrate.

It was a Great Article

As far as articles go, this one was certainly above par in respect to accuracy of fact. There did appear to be an air of sarcasm at times that made one feel it was intended to get a rise out of the anti-gun crowd, but it was mild and did stick to the facts, which is uncommon for the anti-gun crowd, as wellas the press in general.

Overall, I would rate this article as positive and accurately written. While it might arouse some of the anti-gun crowd, I feel it does just as much to inform them that it is perfectly legal to carry a gun in Colorado and that calling the police at the mere sight of someone carrying is unwarranted and a waste of time.

You are Right...I also did sense a bit of sarcasm thru-out the artilce, but the Facts were good even so.

I have not been to Vail in a few years but from what I remember the people who actually own property there are not "young or urban" Many were retireesand of thosemany ex military, who own firearms themselves. I could be mistaken now though.

BTW-

It looks like the article has an option for comment posting, and there have only been 3 so far. None of them were anti-2A.

Spent a few days in Vail this past July & started out with the 239 concealed, but it was a tad hot & ended up removing my cover garment & was OCing the 239 in a CTAC with dual mags on the off side.

Got a few looks but nobody ever said a word & nobody called the police on me as far as I know.
