Please sign this petition to allow the open carrying of firearms in the state of Texas. We need 25,000 signatures to get through and 150 to be publicaly viewable.
Don't get me wrong I know that the whitehouse won't pass it but with all the people coming on for the state secession petititions a LOT of people will sign this
when it reaches 150 signatures. And then maybe open carry will be passed. This petition is also for concealed carry without permit. Please click the link below and sign the petition.

The White House has nothing to do with carry in Texas.

I know but this petition can be used for the Texas legislature. I'm doing it here because a lot of Texans are coming for the Texas secession petition and will sign this petition and then it can be used to pass an open carry without permit law in Texas.

Texas will get open carry back, I just hope it is during my lifetime.

If you want to open carry you can if you go to jail for a night or so and then you can file a title 42 lawsuit which basically says if your so called crime didin't hurt anyone it's not a crime. If there's no injured party it isn't a crime. I don't have all the information now so I will get back to you when I get the rest of the information.
P.S. The reason i'm interested in Texas getting open carry is because I plan to move to Texas someday. Besides the no open carry law it's a pretty cool state.

P.S.S. You can get 250,000 dollars or more for sueing these people! And this applys to traffic tickets too. If you didin't hurt anyone you can sue!

Yes they have but this is for people's right's being restored. The other times it was for people's rights being taken away.

Get it through your head. Putting up a petition on a federal web site is a waste of time. Even if the petition WAS applicable to the federal government (which yours is NOT), the government is mandated to respond to it, not to take action on it. This means they can respond by simply saying, "It sucks to be you."

+1 with the caveat that they are NOT "mandated" to respond. They just said they would.

I would rather every freedom-loving American had refused to participate in this entire sham on the whitehouse website.

Saiga, what these guys are so abrasively trying to say is, while your intention is good and the initiative you've shown is exactly what we need in this fight, open carry in the state of Texas is a "state-level" issue. Petitioning the federal government will not only result in no success, it will misdirect efforts that really need to be concentrated and on point right now. It's great that you're working on something instead of leaving it completely to others. If we had more people with that kind of personal involvement, we'd probably be enjoying a lot more firearms-related freedoms right now. You just need to know where to apply that initiative. The feds are not that place.

In point of fact, there is already a state-level petition and it's seriously in need of signatures. Instead of proposing yet another petition, you could focus your efforts on spreading the word and raising awareness about the existing one. That, in itself, would be a huge help. Find out who your state-level senator and representative are and get their contact information. Send them each a letter and then follow up with a phone call. Relay the results of your communications to us here so we can see what kind of responses we're getting and who we need to put more pressure on. Become familiar with facts and information regarding our carry laws and the history of open carry in other states so you can present a solid argument if ever in a situation that required one. But definitely keep it state-level.

And don't let the "Angry Internet Message Board Syndrome" scare you off. Just because people on here can be a little negative or scathing in their responses, often offering no positive reinforcement or alternative suggestions of their own, it doesn't mean you aren't welcome or that your efforts aren't appreciated. We're all working for the same thing and we definitely need everyone we can get.

The point of it is to have a lot of people sign it so that it may already have enough to be passed or at least seriously considered in the Texas legislature. What i'm trying to say is it's like another petition site. A lot of people will sign it because they're coming on for the state secession petitions. So how about this NEW petition I believe is better.

Cool I will raise awareness for that other petition if you give me the link and thanks for not insulting me in your comment. Like other people were.

If you are currently a Colorado resident - as I am, you may or may not be aware of the fact that Texas law allows for the carry of a handgun without a handgun license while TRAVELING. This includes while you , or your passengers are OUTSIDE of your vehicle when engaged in any activity contingent to your journey. I do not go out of my way to ensure concealment while traveling from the time I hit Texline until I arrive at my destination.

That means that when I buy gas, stop for a meal, buy windshield wipers at an Auto Zone, or go to & fro from my motel room (while enroute) my holstered handgun may very well be discernible to ordinary observation under certain conditions. While traveling - Section 46.02 of the Texas penal Code simply does not apply. Section 46.15 (b), (3) says so. Never had a problem - yet......but I don't make a BIG issue of it either. I don't display while checking in at a motel desk.

While I am staying at my destination in Texas I carry in a manner that complies with Section 46.035a- meaning I carry with every INTENT to conceal - even if my intent is not always perfectly successful.

This works for me - if only because I'm not particularly interested in overtly advertising my holstered weapon when I'm in Texas - OR even when I'm back in Colorado for that matter. That's why I prefer an IWB (inside waistband)holster.

There's no question though that Texas needs to follow Oklahoma's lead and remove the statutory concealment restriction for handgun licensees.

My point is that I've managed to accomodate myself reasonably well to the peculiar Texas licensed concealment provision.

i've been trying to make a white house petition account and I've been waiting for a conformation email. I made the account 2 weeks ago and i still cant get on.
It just may be the great plan of the admin. to keep me from making decisions on my own.

That's weird I got mine as soon as I started an account. Are you sure you did it right?
