So, I was at a meeting this evening and had a chance to speak one on one with the Super for the Christina school district and I brought up the issue of allowing teachers, if they choose to carry their firearm if they were licensed by the state of Delaware.

As expected, more than any other word out of her mouth was, "No."

Me: "So, if you had a scenario where a lone gunman would kill 30 students and one teacher who was armed would, say, cut that in half..."

Her: "I don't want my teachers shooting at anything."

Me: "That's what I thought."

Here's to keeping my kid out of that school district.

yea, some people just dont get the idea that guns can be used for more than doing evil things. its sad that such simple minded fools are in control of so much of our society.

I know of two people that have purchased guns off the street, one in William Penn and the other at Del Castle. Don't know if they take it to school or even if they still have them, but it's pretty scary.

Of course they're blind. They probably believe all the reports on "shootings" they see or read on the news. They're afraid of guns because the media portrays the guns as having minds oftheir own. How many times have you read stuff like:

"Gun kills child..."

"... and then the gun went off accidentally..."

"... he had a gun, which went off, wounding the victim..."

All the media does is perpetuate this stupidity that the GUNS have their own desire to kill innocent people.

When in fact it's the person's NEGLIGENCEin handling the gun in the first place. Guns don't "accidentally" go off, spontaneously, for no reason. It's the person who's holding the gun (who probably shouldn't even be looking at one in the first place!), pointing it at someone, and having their finger on the freakin' trigger. Or, of course, it's the pure evil (intention) of the shooter in the first place.

It would be like me blaming my fork for making me fat. Duh.

Two things about what you said..

Listening to the news on WDEL, everytime they have stories that relates to a crime using a firearm, they always put that extra emphasis, like...

"A man was arrested yesterday for having a GUUUUN in a holster in plain view." (Fictitious story, but you get the idea.)

Second thing, about blaming the gun -- someone made a great observation... When a gun is used in the commission of a crime, it's the gun's fault, but when that paritioner stopped the guy from shooting up the church in Colorado, it was THEIR doing... No one ever said, "LOOK! A gun saved their lives!"

Bah.

Yes, because the church wanted THAT person to get in trouble for having a gun on church property, so they emphasized the PERSON doing it. In a crime, they emphasize the GUN because it's more ammo for the anti's and gun grabbers.

I hate the media, and the general clueless public (sheeple) so much sometimes!

BUT, they'd be the first to complain if a violent crime happened TO them and there wasn't someone w/a gun around to protect them.
