I'm looking for a .22 plinker pistol and the ISSA m22 caught my eye. Anyone familiar with this brand ? The ISSA web site says they have Walther barrels and german engineered and austrian made bla bla.....I have never seen an ISSA pistol at the gun shop. any other suggestions on what a good .22 would be? I am not dead set on this ISSA and would appreciate any input. thanks

You might want to google reviews on the pistol. I do not own a Glock, so personally I would not like the pistol. If I owned a Glock I would buy a conversion kit for 22lr as opposed to this gun, it only looks similar to a Glock. It does not have the Glock double action only trigger, in fact it is a single action with a hammer. If you want just a 22 to plink with then read the reviews, I found them to consistently say the same thing. IMO a person can't go wrong with the Ruger line.

It looks like the Smith & Wesson 22A No Bull semi auto is going to be the winner here. Anyone have one ? Any insight on this pistol from someone with experience with it?

I you're still takin input, I have found the Walther P22 to be very reliable. If you like 1911s, ATI has the GSG-1911. I would stay away from the Sig Sauer Mosquito, I have one. Lots of FTFs, heard the same from others. Most .22 pistols are picky when it comes to ammo so be aware of that no matter what pistol you buy. Good luck and let us know what you buy.

I have a Sig Mosquito. I love the feel of the gun. The Walther was a little small for me. The Mosquito is definitely picky as far as ammo and cleanliness go. There is a few mods, filing the feed ramp, polishing the chamber etc.... I still need to do those to mine, but a .22 is not a self defense weapon it is a plinker so in my personal opinion it is not supposed to be a perfect weapon. The ruger mk22's dont look quite as good as the Sig or Walther but from what I've heard (dont own one) they are pretty much top notch for a 22. I dont know about the M22, but again, you arent looking for a self defence weapon and it wont break the bank so get what you want! :)

Was just out looking

Was just over to Williams Gunsight and handled the Browning, Ruger, S&W. Nothing like adding more to the (in)decision process. My thoughts are to get a pistol simular to the one I carry, a taurus PT111 mil pro, to practice with and not have to blow through 20 bucks a box on ammo and have a little fun with. I liked the Browning Buckmark out of those I looked at so far. I need to look at a few more yet so I am still not settled on just what I will get. I'll keep you posted.

Maybe you should consider handloading to your list also. It will cut down your costs considerably.

Done deal

Just got back from Gander and purchased a Browning Buck Mark. I think I looked at all the pistols in the case and the Browning felt the best in my hand. We shall see tomorrow when I take it to the range if I made the right decision.

I am pleased....

I am quite pleased with my buckmark although its not simular to my taurus like I said I wanted. Funny how it always goes that way......you think you know what you want and what you get is not even close to that......but I am pleased. Its a great shooter too but didn't have the time to spend tuning it in. for me and how I align the sights it shot a bit high and left........ my fault on the trigger pull prehaps?....... but soon enough got to know where to put the front sight to get it in the black consistantly at 30 ft. I only put 100 rnds thru it. I would reccomend this pistol to anyone else looking for a nice .22lr.

I regularly borrow my father's Browning Buckmark with a bull barrel & match stocks. It is an excellent .22 caliber handgun. I've shot the Rugers, Beretta Neos, S&Ws, & Walthers... IMO, none compare to the Browning. Of course, the Buckmarck usually costs a little more than the competition.
