I was getting some stuff from Vistaprint this afternoon, and among the "free" offers in my inbox was one for return address labels. I searched for "firearm" and came up with only one option.

Using the editor feature, I went to bold arial 9pt font, centered, and entered the following text:

You are entering a victim disarmament zone.
This business is now legally responsible to protect you against crime.

I'm not sure I'll actually be bold enough to use them, but I could see adding them to the lower part of the circle-slash gun signs. It amuses me to think about the reactions of various people.

I've heard that someone (no. I'm not saying who) passed out return address stickers that said "WARNING - Beyond this point only criminals have guns!" and suggested that they might be pasted over or next to the gun-buster signs.

Yes, it might be considered defacing private property, but I'm not sure anybody would want to press the issue over a single return address sticker. Of course, the added cost of having to get the maintenance crew to scrape it off may upset them more than anything else.

stay safe.

Are you willing to sell/send any of these to others that may be willing to use them?

If you get caught sticking them places you could get charged with "tagging".

Aside from the "tagging" or graffiti charge, you may also have to worry about running afoul of a "post no bills" ordinance. Many cities have statutes that prohibit the unauthorized posting of signs, or "flyleafing". These laws were mostly enacted in the 20's and late 40's when communist and socialist organizations were posting a lot of flyers to organize the labor movement. There was another rash of enactment of these laws in the 1960s when the hippies and "alternative" communities were posting a lot of flyers for their activities too.

Freedom of the press only applies to those rich enough to afford one...

maybe a card you could leave for the manager saying: your prohibiting guns has placed me at risk, and forced me to shop elsewhere, you have lost X number of dollars today.
nothing speaks louder than an open, or closed wallet!

Walked into a smoke shop with one of those red circle and slash over the gun signs

hanging in the shop window. I went inside to get some lighter fluid and asked the shop owner, an Indian, why he bothered to put a "no guns" sign in the window. He chuckled and said, "Well, I don't want people bringing weapons in my store. I don't want any trouble." (Forget about the fact that I was standing in front of him with a loaded Glock 20 tucked under my jacket -- so much for preventing people from bringing guns into the store -- and what they don't know won't hurt 'em.)

"Well, I can certainly see that. No one wants any trouble, Sir. But did you stop for a moment to consider that hanging that sign might be inviting trouble instead of making trouble go away?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well, I mean to say, Sir that you are telling armed criminals that no one inside this store has a weapon and they can't defend themselves from someone who is in fact armed -- so come on in and do what you like in here!" I said, with good delivery and animation.

"Interesting! Thanks for telling me that!"

"Let me tell you something more then. Try this... take the sign down and bring it to your home tonight and hang it up on your front door or in your front room window." He looked puzzled for a moment, but the light bulbs were going off in his head.

He suddenly looked at me and smiled after a moment and then he walked over to the window and took down the sign and crammed it into a garbage can. "I won't be needing this anymore." He said, chuckling.

"Good idea, Sir. Now, go out and get yourself a good shotgun and learn how to use it."

"I just might do that. Thanks for the tip!"

Attention criminals

I always carry a few of these in the event I enter a bldg with a NFA sign on the door. I recentlyspoke to the security supervisor at a local hospital and asked him to attach these stickers to the signs on the hospital entrance doors. I had about 1000 printed for a few bucks. Only 2" X 4" but just right for the message. Mailed out several to others on this site. PM me with an address if you would like a few.

Hadn't thought about it 'til you asked, but I suppose I could.
When they arrive I'll figure out how they'd fit into a #10 envelope & get back to you.
Depending on how many fit, I'm thinking something like send me a SASE + 50c ($1?).
