This may be bigger than just my area, from a couple of stories from other regions I dug up this morning. It would appear--granted, from what seems like tight-lipped corporate spokepersons quoted--that the company no longer wants to run the restaurants themselves, in favor of making them all franchises. The trouble appears to be, they don't have many potential franchisees already lined up, or even interested. My understanding is that managers were contacted yesterday at 5pm, with orders from headquarters to shut down the restaurants by 8pm. That seems to be a frequent occurrence in the restaurant industry.
I didn't post links because the stories were rather low on details. If anybody here has a good source of info, please feel free to share it. Meanwhile, I am going to miss the Steak 'n' Shake nearest my home very much. Never saw it or others within the region posted against carry, whether CC or OC. Can't remember any such negative encounters mentioned on the Ohio-based firearms rights groups' pages or forums, either.
