"I secretly (and selfishly) enjoyed the feeling of superiority in knowing that I was one of the few people allowed by Illinois law to carry around a loaded gun. Boy, did I have a lot to learn."

One of the big reasons LEOs get bent out of shape on OC-ers.

Also, I'd like to see the reaction if she was OC-ing, being a retired LEO, and was stopped and hassled by the local PD. OH, I forgot she wouldn't be hassled, because, even though retired, she's afforded special consideration, though the law does not provide for it. LEOs will 'massage' the laws - not enforce them - to meet their personal preferences.

Well she's a bit off with her Ted Bundy segment. He was executed on my birthday in 1989; January 24. That day I wrote on my white board in my office, "Today is Fry-day" in his "honor". He was executed on a Tuesday.

Outstanding article! I posted it on Facebook, with special emphasis on "Excelle - Networking for the Career-Minded Woman" as most of my facebook friends are career women.

Book marked, thanks for that excellent link Sheriff. Glad to see you on haven't heard from ya in awhile. I have always enjoyed your take on LEO duty and responsibility, wish a lot more felt the same way you do.

I am also glad this particular article is aimed at a female audience. I truly wish more females would carry. I feel they are more likely to be a victim of crime than males, and a pistol would sure eliminate any physical differences between attacker and victim very quickly.

Pink guns for all females?

I was watching the Penn&Teller BS show on handguns and though it was done for laughs, I think the idea of having pink colored frame guns for all females who want one isn't such a bad idea.
