Shooting in Maine

After checking out a few different ranges around southern maine, i was curious if anyone has any experience with any of them? The two ive had my eye on, scarborough fish and game and falmout rod and gun club, both have varying membership fees, ranges, utilities etc.... as well as cost and application process.

For example, scarfg is about 200$ per year vs frgc which is around 75. Scarfg seems to have a much, much bigger and higher quality range but their app process can supposedly take up to five months, requires on site mentoring with a sponsor, 16 hours of "helping out" around the range, meeting with a panel of members who decide your fate and then sacrifice a virgin gorilla etc... it sounds like a hell of a lot of trouble. Also indoor range users can only use ammo bought from the range, which seems like a way of saying "get ready to pay out the ass to shoot here."

What about official/unofficial outdoor ranges around southern maine? by using googlemaps ive seen some wooded areas that look like they would be vacant enough to shoot in, but i have no way of knowing who owns the land.

Thanks for any information you guys have, after searching the internet for awhile, the two spots above are the only two ive found.

Western Maine Fish & Game in Harrison, $20 per year for individual, $25 for a family.

they seem to have a pretty minimalistic setup, but for only 20 dollars per year you atleast get a spot to shoot plus you get the community to be around, thanks for the heads up i hadnt heard of them.
