I posted this in the Brigade section but got no feedback. So here goes.

I have had my Serpaholstersfor a couple of years and love them. Howeverthey arewearing the finish of the slides of my Glock and Sig. Anyone else had this problem? If so, have you found a solution?

You call this no feedback?? What exactly were you expecting? My suggestion would be to get something other than aSerpa, but my opinion's just a little bit bias :).

Greqo,

There was no feedback when I posted in this section.

I was looking for a solution to the SERPA problem from members who had one. Not suggestion for another holster. You did not say you had a Serpa or this problem so the question did not pertain to you.

Always a condesending, smart A$$ comment....Always.

Your original thread was started on Thu Oct 2nd, 2008 at 05:16 PM. This second thread was started on Thu Oct 2nd, 2008 at 08:03 PM. Normally it takes at least a day before the forum readers have a chance to read and respond to your questions. Expecting detailed answers in less than 3 hours, and then complaining when that doesn't happen, is not exactly considered polite. Neither are personal attacks, come to think of it!

Anyway, your original threadreferred to "serpa/fobus TYPE" holsters. I think it's safe to assume that you meant rigid, synthetic holsters from ANY manufacturer. I have such a holster, that happens to be made by Safariland. Unlike other holsters, this one is lined with suede from the factory. This lining has effectively prevented the holster from wearing into the finish of my handgun.

With this information, one might conclude that one could theoretically line any rigid, synthetic holster with a suede type material to prevent damage to the weapon's finish. One may have to adjust the tension on the holster onceone does this, sinceone wouldbe adding bulk to the inside of the holster. As I stated in the other thread, at least one person has tried this, but the material was not strong enough and it eventually peeled. One shouldchoose an adhesive that will prevent the material from peeling. I'm sorry that you don't find any of this information helpful.

Which Safariland holster is that and has the lining held up?

I almost bought a Serpa at a gun show recently. For a G27. A good price, too. But I did think about the possibility of wearing the finish, so I didn't buy it.

My holster is the one that comes with the 6377 ALS Belt Holster option. The lining has held up very well.It smoothed out a bit on the wear points, but it has effectively prevented any damage to the gun's finish.

Sir, I was in your forum looking for information on a NC native who was stopped in VA and illegally arrested after informing and providing his NC CHP to VA State Troopers.

I saw your post title, and having a Sig and currently using a Serpa I couldn't resist replying.

My Sig has been through a lot with me. I've had it for almost 25 years. My affinity for it's balance and accuracy are obvious. I have always known that my Sig is manufactured with the Nitron finish, which is not known to be very durable to mars, etc. My sidearm has character which displays, to me, lessons learned from a storied past. I don't care that my favorite sidearm isn't perfectly pretty. And I think I can absolutely guarantee to you that the folks that deserve a personal delivery from it won't really care either.

Breathe. It's not that important.

;)

It's a gun.Neither one ofthose will ever be collectors pieces. Serpas and Kydex will rub on the finish and leave their mark. Leather does too, BTW. No 2 firearms wear equally, and each has their own story.
