In this area (Tidewater, VA) there are localities that depend solely on volunteer EMS personnel (firefighters, paramedics, etc.). There are also localities around here that have a mix of volunteer and paid (municipal employees) EMS personnel, and some that only have paid EMS.

I'm guessing that if they enter a premises without authorization (e.g. someone summoned them via 911), they'd be trespassing. If they ended up saving a life, I doubt anyone would press charges.

The SC just declared that "this ain't one".
And that's why Judge Alito sent a warning shot across the bow about "Red Flag" laws and the fourth amendment.

Rino Rubio introduced a "Red Flag" Senate Bill.
(C) If a court issues an extreme risk protection order, the order shall contain—
(vi) a description of the requirements for surrender of all firearms and ammunition owned by the respondent; and
(vii) a clear statement of instruction on surrendering to the appropriate local law enforcement agency.....
The term "surrender" is a voluntary act. Courts cannot order someone to volunteer to do anything, but they do it all the time. Rubio's Bill then says if the firearms are not surrendered then a warrant can be issued for the seizure of those firearms. And this is why Judge Alito said hold on boys, you are on shaky ground.
