[ ... ]Then there are the “red flag laws,” which is the left’s new approach to confiscating guns. These laws are unconstitutional three ways to Sunday, violating three of the rights within the Bill of Rights. These laws usurp the Second Amendment’s right to bear arms, the Fourth Amendment’s protection from unreasonable searches and seizures, and the Sixth Amendment’s right of the accused to a speedy and public trial. I've noticed that the same people who condemn anyone blaming mass shootings on mental illness, are calling to preemptively disarm anyone who might possibly commit some crime based on mental evaluations.

Your broad stoke of the brush MIGHT be considered insulting to those MH professionals who happen to possess a smidge of insight and who do know and believe there are significant underlining MH issues with those committing these acts of violence which are then hyped into a frenzy by newspeek/social media and self-serving politicians.

Further, not all MH professionals agree with the result of the hyped up perception advocated by political activists to implement Emergency Orders to confiscate citizen’s firearms.

Just saying...don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater ...

Until a person commits or attempts to commit an illegal act, there is no way to know what an individual will or won't do. Period.

Red Flag in any form does away with due process, and being innocent until proven quilty.

These Red Flag laws coupled with the fear driven by the over-hyped media have created a situation reminiscent of the witch hunts of the early colonial era. At least then the accused were afforded some semblance of due process, although those tests of guilt or innocence always had the same result: the innocent were saved by God and mercifully died; the guilty were cruelly executed.

MH "professionals" are a cult of identity. They are provided a latitude to convict a citizen of a act not yet manifest. They have expended funds to gain a stature they they do not warrant...bush-league-psycho-out stuff!!

Mccarthy-ism might be a better frame of reference...

Everybody has a breaking point. Some can recognize that point and withdraw or they act, and some don't recognize that point at all. When they act we react in horror repressing our own thoughts of retaliation.

I expect the next time I see a case of road-rage and I report it the road-rager's car is immediately impounded and in 10 days a hearing results. Even if the court clears the road-reger, they must apply for the return of their car. The review of that application could take up the 6 to 8 months for determination of the return. If denied an appeal must be filed and that process could take up the a year.

Hows that for a red flag law?

The specific diagnosis of “PTSD” per se, didn’t exist prior to 1980 within the sphere of MH disorders!

By 1995 another offshoot manifested itself... “compassion fatigue” PTSD ‘like’ symptoms in professionals treating PTSD cliental/patients, aka burnout!

[sidebar...in the early 60’s there another term was “battered child syndrome”.

Interestingly, i personally wonder if the monetary incentive awarded after individuals present and attest to having vague symptoms were abolished if the number of cases would significantly decrease ~ hummmm?

Alas, the term WAR IS HELL hasn’t changed nor stopped the world’s societies from waging it upon each other.

What if you weren't allowed to drive a car because you've purchased "too much" alcohol in the past 30 days and are liable to drink and drive?

I didn't mention MH professionals at all.

Nicely played KB...resorting to elementary playground name calling retorts is quite impressive for such an illustrious individual elected by their community’s citizenry to represent the community in the state’s legislature...

Thank goodness my dad, rest his soul, taught me not to worry about savants calling me childish names...especially since, over the years i’ve walk on the earth, i’ve been called much worse by better individuals who exhibit more character and class!

Without knowing how other states handle DUI/DWI cases in other states, I saw something interesting a couple of days ago. Just as I was getting ready to leave a certain chain "pharmacy" store, the driver in the car next to me was holding a box about half as big as a cigar box with a cable on one end and a clear plastic tube on the other. He was blowing into the tube and I realized that this was one of those "interlock devices" that won't let the ignition work unless they blow 0%. I had never seen one before. Interesting.

The convicted also has to pay for equipment & installation & regular calibration of said equipment as well as removal after a year’s use.
