I'm not sure how 15.2-915 would apply, as this doesn't seem to govern "the purchase, possession, transfer, ownership, carrying, storage or transporting of firearms, ammunition, or components or combination thereof..."

However, since Virginia is a Dillon Rule state, I also don't know how they would find authority for this in the Code of Virginia, either.

We need a User opinion.

To Whomever is Concerned:

Prince Georges' County has Introduced Legislation that would Create a 'Gun Offender Registry'!

The Article is Published here: http://www.afro.com/sections/news/prince-georges-county-news/story.htm?storyid=74891

This is a Clear Violation of Virginia Code 15.2-915, and such Action by Prince Georges' County is Preempted under Virginia Law!

This is for Prince Georges County.... in the Peoples Republik of Merryland. Not Prince George County, Virginia.

Never mind. I, too, got caught by not recognizing it was Prince George's
County, Maryland.

What a shame. I had such a good review of why the proposal would not violate 15.2-915.

Oh, well! Maybe next time.

stay safe.

I agree that 15.2-915 has nothing to do with it but if you remember TFred, I posted a while back about Virginia's Database statute. It would be hard for them to justify a local database for firearms violators.

Now the question is, what do you do about it?
The applicable statute really has no teeth other than to have a court rule it illegal. No punishment at all.

Court costs money...That's kinda catchy. CCM:rolleyes:

I don't live there and hopefully will never set foot in the God forsaken place, so it's up to the residents to fight it on a local level.

VCDL is stronger in NOVA than any other place in Va. so it's possible they will get involved but it's obvious they don't have a standing legal fund available.

:lol:I did the same thing once. There needs to be a law:eek: about two states having the same name for counties.
