It was talked about once, and nothing happened with it, but I think if we started organizing now I am willing to take this on...I think it would be good if we could even try and do a once a month meeting and meet in a different town each month.

anyone interested in this please feel free emailing me modificationvt@gmail.com

I thought about it, but I am not interested and here's why: There is not problem with OC or CC carry in VT. Although a few individual officers may not be happy with it, I have never had an issue. I would hat to have this become news for the following reasons. I don't want the anti crowd hearing about it through the news and then pushing through some legislation. Second I don't want the gang bangers getting wind of it. that would create a REAL fear in the community if Mr Baggy pants in Burlington started OC with an attitude "F the police It's legal and I can do it"> Remember thats why Californians lost their OC rights b/c of the Black Panthers carrying shotguns to thecapital "b/c it was legal. I see no problem to organize in VT b/c there is no problem, and no legislature issues on the books as bills. Just keep OC and deal with the individual PD issues as they arise. The PD knows the drill here in VT and I have never had a problem myself. We can meet at a diner as friends, but I would rather NOT have any media on an issue that does not exist. Look at soccer mom in PA and the Dickson Dozen. Due to them there are now "No Firearms" signs popping up all over PA. I like the low profile approach in a state where there are no issues. I would never OC to a soccer game. It's just not good ettiquite since some people just don't feel comfortable with someone displaying around their 5 year old. Lets use some common sense here folks. The antis have their rights too. If they feel intimidated or their children threatened they will bark laoudly to get legislative changes, and I DON"T want to see that in VT. I am happy with the existing laws!

new member here, from southern vermont. i'd tend to agree with "vermonter", i've had no problems with the state police, sheriffs dept. or local police about carrying, either openly or concealed. ocasionally a rookie coming on the jobfrom another state doesn't "get the word" but the old timers square them away pretty quickly, or they leave for somewhere like massachusetts or new york where the laws are more to their liking. we do have a gun control "group" in vermont, but i suspect its a one person operation in somebodies spare room, and i'd prefer that they get no attention or political traction in the media.

RE OC meetings:

I agree, and believe 'let sleeping dogs lie', we all seem to get along pretty well here in VT, and the less we broadcast it, the less attention we call to ourselves. :uhoh: I can see the Mass wholes all running around now screaming that a bunch of criminals is having an Appalacia type meeting in their PT town.

I CC and OC depending on where and when, winter is definately CC. Let's just keep it cool and running smooth here in VT.

funny thing, a few years back i worked in massachusetts as an armed guard with an armoured truck route into vermont that required a "armed courier" license from the state of vermont, i had a hell of a time convincing my fellow workers, (mass residents) that the vermont"armed courier" license was not a "pistol permit" but a trade license not applicable to the general public at large, and had nothing to do with my right to carry a pistol off duty as a private citizen under vermont law. my supervisor was a bit more intelligent, his attitude was "when you're off duty its your business what you carry as long as you're legal".

Lets get together.....and do lunch.....

Hello all,
I know this is a dead thread, but i would like to see if everyone would like to do a meet up somewhere in Vermont, as a OC/CC non-event. Just a bunch of fellow gun owners having lunch somewhere. Won't announce it to the media or anything. Lets put some names and faces together, we can all talk about our experiences and training and also tell some tall stories.......what do you all think.....
