About civility; it has devolved to bathetic Political Correctness that even the ostensible right-wing embraces, Sir. Stay safe, avoid the trainwreck.

I have been accused of a lot of things in my life, but "politically correct" has never been one of them. You are correct, however, that civility has been, in far too many instances, corrupted to "politically correct."

Grapeshot said:
Honesty. Civility. Ethics. Integrity. Honor.

Mix well, chill and serve frequently.

And there is the essence of what I am trying to say. Old-fashioned? Perhaps. But I will still maintain that ladies and gentlemen can have civil discourse without sinking into the cesspools of either political correctness or overly abrasive/abusive comments.

LOL, works with turkeys too. The farmer feeds a turkey everyday for a thousand days, each feeding a datum in the turkey's confidence in his good judgement of Utopia-for-turkeys. On the thousand-and-first day the turkey gets the axe, meeting his Black Swan illustrating the fallacy of induction in a complex world.

Deduction from never seeing or meeting an old turkey would have been the better logic here.

The sad part is, and I know from experience, the turkey or chicken will calmly lay it's neck across the chopping block. As long as it trusts it's provider.

Negative comments directed at a person are considered uncivil.

By the very nature of this site, negative comments are expected to be leveled against ideas and specific behaviors, just not against specific persons. Those negative comments against ideas and actions will surely be strong. They are not uncivil.

The staff at Civility will make the determination whether a comment is uncivil or not. Period. We will not brook charges and counter-charges from members in posts. If you feel someone is being uncivil, including staff members, contact a staff member via PM or the "Report" button.

This is the only general warning that will be given. Future warnings will be formal and individual.

Read the exciting thread labeled by eye95 of "Jap Surrender"...0 replies ... keeping current on things that happened about 70 years ago !

Also read how eye started the thread "Turn on your lights" in protest of global warming (???)
Zero replies...

See the thread "Quote of the week" that had a record setting 2 posts; seems like it should have been labeled "quote of only one minute".

See the thread labeled " Editors " as the posting noted: Civility needs more editors. With the increased activity, .. which their were no replies .. ROFL

There is no civility on the internet, it should get my goat when I-jockeys act like a ass, but it is just so funny the irony of it all.

Ironic that his website is so authoritative on moderating, arguments, dissent and the like, yet he can't extend the same civility to the mod here. Not to side with the mod in any way; just humorous that one who harps so much about civility can't practice it outside his own backyard.
