You guys got a pretty good turn-around time. Here in VA, they have to issue within 45 days of receiving the application. Mine came on day 44. Good luck to you all.

Talked to the Elkhorn postmaster and she said it is highly probable that mail mailed after noon yesterday from Madison might take 2 days to Elkhorn. It makes a stop in Milwaukee. :banghead:

I just hope your card does not get hit by a flash-mob on the way out of the city!

I'm sure you will have yours in the mail tomorrow.

Staff is ramped up for the initial flood of applications and they are trying as hard as they can to not get buried. After things slow down and they reduce staff, there might be a longer response time.

Gotcha. Is there a maximum time limit for issuing specified by the statute? In VA, if they don't issue you a permit within 45 days they are required to give you a temporary permit.

The WI-DOJ will not issue temp. permits. Only a Circuit Court judge can grant a temp. permit.

If the DOJ takes longer than 45 days for a permit or denial, then the applicant can file against the DOJ in the Circuit Court.

Uh-oh the carry permits are getting out!!!!! Better hide the women and children Wisconsin is going to turn into the Wild West and crime is going to go sky high!!!!!! lol
I'm sitting in my favorite coffee shop & there's a guy here who is spouting this exact BS.
In fact, he claims that there are teens (like those involved in the Mayfair riot) who are planning to preemptively attack (or shoot) anyone they see who has a gun.
No distinction as to whether the person has it holstered or is pointing it at someone...

Since my plans for the day were cancelled due to weather, I went to Madistan & turned in my application.
The gals at the desk laughed when I got a phone call just as I was about to seal it & drop it in the box, & told the caller (Jay) that I was about to put it in the shredder. They thought it looked like a shredder too.

I was there at noon, & they told me the box had been emptied 3x already that morning.
Those are walk-ins, so I'd guess primarily people from within 90min of Madistan who are able to take the time to go in person. They'll get swamped w/ mail starting tomorrow.

I took some pictures of the architecture & frescos, but couldn't get as many as I wanted 'cause of the "singing protestors" who are (apparently) there every day between noon & 1. Made talking to anyone very difficult. I can't imagine putting up with that as an employee in the building. :(

When I asked someone for directions to the correct exit, they pointed me to the opposite side of the building... so I took the shortest route - through the middle of the singalong.

I guess there isn't much anyone can do with a permit number, the Internets scares me sometimes :uhoh:.
No one posted the back yet so here it is.

Same exact size and thickness as a drivers license. Shiny plastic with the same super thin sticker/laminate over just the front to protect the writing, just no holograms or watermarks.

FYI

It is interesting that the State of Wisconsin Concealed Weapon License does not have watermarks or holograms (or those things you can only see under a black light). Perhaps future versions will as the current WI CWL begs to be counterfeited. (Although any LEO can call WI DOJ and verify the permit number and the name associated with it.)

UT CFP has State of Utah State Seal (Same as Driver License) watermark (twist card to see in sunlight) - has photo of holder
UT CFP Instructor has UT Department of Public Safety Emblem and UT DPS Badge watermark - has photo of holder
FL CWP has Florida State Fish and Game emblem watermark - has photo of holder
NV CFP has Las Vegas Metro Police Badge watermark - has photo of holder
AZ has Dept of Public Safety Hologram - no watermarks and, like the WI License, has no photo of the holder
PA is a paper license with no photo (many on the East Coast add a photo and laminate the permit) Any idiot with a scanner can counterfeit this one, although LEOs do call in to have the permit number verified against the name of the carrier.

And, may I again take this occasion to congratulate all my students, friends, (and the friends I have not yet met), and all members of WI CARRY on this historic accomplishment. When I left Wisconsin I said to myself that I would never return for any substantial length of time until WI had concealed carry. Now, that option is again open to me if circumstances so dictate.

You guys are plain evil! LOL

Because they were all tossed into a bin the size of a garbage can. I'm sure they all got mixed up and who knows what number we get. It'll be really funny, if "Mr. 1st in line who shall not be named" get's the highest number of the day when they started going through the can.

At least we now know that wasn't a paper shredding sound we heard when we put them into the slot in the can.

Tuesday at 9 a.m. they grabbed the first container full of applications, and wheeled it over to the DOJ building that has the firearms unit, for processing. Their staff were very helpful, even had envelopes with address stickers on them, and little sponge head applicators, so some of the more paranoid applicants didn't have to worry about DNA harvesting. (you know who you are, although no one else does).

The DOJ staff in the Attorney General's office were very helpful and accommodating, even excited. The phone would ring again, as soon as soon as it was hung up.

You are kidding me sheesh. looks cheap. i can not believe it took the that long to design this. no hologram wow. but then a holo would have cost us another 50 on top of this. ah well i guess my contribution of 50 will go a long way since these can no possibly cost more than 1.00 to make hahaha!

I'm in the same boat. Thought for sure when I got home today it would be returned. Hoping that is a good sign.

This...^^^^^... Mine did not come today either....

As long as we are in the same boat, we should do some fishing... Excellent time of the year for big (huge) Muskies....

I am also hoping mine arrives tomorrow.

I guess being one of the first group to hand in person was kinda like thinking the DOJ would follow the intent of Act 35... :banghead:

Although I will say I was totaly suprised to hear that they have already started mailing permits so I will give credit where credit is due.... Good on them.
