Two law abiding, of age citizens with no criminal or mental record standing side by side. One of them aquires a concealed weapons permit by, basically, spending a little money and wrestling paperwork. Both may open carry, a right they have; not because the law says they CAN, but because there is no law that says they CANNOT. The rules and regs. that govern the concealed weapons permit holder say he may not carry in certain locations; for example, a parade. May they both open carry at a parade? There is no law that prevents it, except forthe concealed weapons permit holder, so it must be legal, correct?

Hey Dude, its best to leave it in the truck for a Parade, Its for the safty of everyone, including yourself! Give it some time, when the rag Heads start there s--t, its going to be open season. So it won't be that long, with the way the world is now, more & more country's are starting to hate us on a daily bacis. But at least we can say we will have a safe mardi Gras. I don't even think i'll get a permit, i can have it in my truck anyway, So just don't try to take my truck from me. But if its in the truck and if ineed it , i'll know where it is....Joekareca

i don't see a law saying you can't OC at a parade, but the cops aren't gonna care. Don't do it, unless you wanna make a case for gun rights across the country.

j213 is correct. The CCW law applies to people in a parade not people attending the parade. The was discussed for about 20 minutes in my class and confirmed by a call to LSP.

joekareca, I'm sure Carondalet is more worried about what might happen on the walk to the parade route and back. I wouldn't go to a parade without a weapon, either.

i was told if the parade license was issued then its a NO CARRY at the parade..For everyone.......Not only in the parade but on the entire parade route......Usually there are enough cops around to handel the threat........I w/ask around more about this,i dont think its ok to carry at a parade ...If they have a parade permit !!!....

CIties, counties and other minucipalities are prohibited from making rules or laws regarding the regulation of guns other than discharge. The state has a preemption law that prevents them from doing just what you have said.

Dang, I forgot I wasn't in the Washington forum. Make sure you check local laws... I am so sorry for speaking out of turn.

Police at the range aren't very good people to be asking about legal advice. Of course, people on the internets aren't either.

When in doubt, just call the women at concealed handgun. 925-GUNS. They are going to be the ones who decide if your permit gets revoked. They will tell you parade is OK.
