Thanks for the info ,I'm going in for surgery tomarrow. I've been asked the depressed ? but not the others.
Just a note last fall the Madison WI VA hospital was handing out FREE gun locks, you could have as many as you wanted.

It seems like anything we say can and will be used against us these days. I trust no one official. :uhoh:

Sounds fishy to me. What does homeland security have to do with state gun permits? Is there a law that says the VA has to report these to anyone? Hello? Dr/patient confidentially?

It's my understanding that this only happens when VA appoints someone to manage their finances.

Basically they are equating this to being "adjudicated as a mental defective”.

Not saying it's right by any means, but the simple asking about depression, etc is NOT enough to get your name on "the List"..

I have been reading about this same thing for years, but to date, I don't know anyone who has ever lost a CCW permit over it. I personally remember similar questions when I lived in Montanna, and I said I was stressed bigtime from work. I never lost my CCW.

I would appreciate anyone who can show me proof that this has ever happened. As a vet who has gone through it, I would have to think that this is a scam.

Then again, thats just my opinion.

We Call It "The Veterans Disamament Act"....it has been around a few years now...

This has been federal law for a few years now and actually started in Congress during the Bush Administration.

One of many links: http://www.newswithviews.com/Pratt/larry81.htm

Another: http://gunowners.org/a010808.htm

Another: http://gunowners.org/ne0713.htm

According to the articles above over 140,000 veterans have already lost their 2A rights forever. I'm sure more have been added to the list.

Keep in mind that all of this will eventually tie into Obamacare for the entire population. Once that happens....well, you get the picture. It won't be just veterans that will lose their 2A rights.

Edited to add this article from Jan 2011, it is worth your two minutes of your life to read: http://www.federaljack.com/?p=19034

they don't talk to a veteran after every shoot

:question:If you were to consider the number of Police and Veterans I wonder what percentage in each group ate there guns. NOT SAYING ANYTHING, JUST WONDERING.

I don't even answer the "Do you consume alcoholic beverages?" screening question at the VA.

The less they know about your personal life, the better. All medical records can be used against you... it just takes a swipe of a judges pen.
