Open Carry While Running?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the site, so I just wanted to say hello to everybody before asking my question. I hope everybody's day is going good so far and you're all staying safe.

As a little bit of background, I'm 18 and live in Arizona. As people who live in Arizona know, it's perfectly okay to open carry if you're at least 18. With that in mind, I have a question that I haven't really experimented with just yet and would like to get some feedback on. Obviously, I like to carry just about everywhere I go, and this would extend to running if I knew exactly how to do that. Open carrying in gym shorts with just a paddle holster seems very unsafe and also just sounds like it would pull my shorts down, and I don't exactly want that. So, what should I be wearing instead in order to ensure comfort and safety while running? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

I do not open carry while running as I do not use a belt on my running shorts.
.

But a good pair of shorts with a good secure belt and holster could make it possible.

The biggest problem was getting rid of the bonce.

I carried in a shoulder holster with two tee shirts for years but again that is concealed.

Good luck in your search as it is a problem us runners that carry have.

I've used a belly band. It served its purpose.
I recall trying one. When it was tight enough to secure my H&K USP, it was too tight to allow good breathing.

I ‘bicycle’ recumbently now, and my pistol is in the rack bag to not interfere with my breathing. I currently average 120 BPM HR, regularly see 130 PBM and noticed a 180 PBM a couple of weeks ago.

LOL. Now there’s a high performance runner!

OPie’s opening attribute is “gym shorts”, not BDU and combat boots to ensure safety.

Yep gym shorts. I can read. And make complete sentences unlike some.

Simple holster on a GOOD gun belt will suffice. If flopping around is a problem the tie cures it.

No boots or BDUs .

Or a fanny pack designed for a gun.

Don't you just hate auto-fill (practice).

If it is a small gun, secure it to an arm with tape or Ace bandage. Feeling bold? Carry it holstered in your hand.
Yes I do hate it. I don't always catch it. Your brain also tricks you and makes you see the word you thought you typed and not the word that is actually on the paper. You happen to look a few days later and say to yourself "I didn't write that."
