Open Carry of Claw Hammers

Somebody in another thread mentioned that people are constantly walking around with hammers, or even chainsaws and nobody pays any attention, yet, another tool, your gun, brings in the cavalry!
That got me to thinking.... Maybe we should start walking around with a hammer at our hip and a shirt that reads:
I am openly carrying this hammer because Texas wont allow me to openly carry my sidearm" or something along those lines, and of course a catchy image/cartoon or something....
My creativity is now expended, and thoughts/ideas/artists?

It's not against the law to carry bow and arrows is it? How about lances?
Or Mace?

A hammer could easily be carried at ones side unobtrusively in a holster just like a gun and for most of us who are not construction workers is could be a great conversation starter, and combined with an informative T-shirt could really get people talking and thinking without having any confrontation! This could actually become an effective 'tool' (pun intended) in our campaign! Any more thoughts/comments/suggestions?

That's actually a pretty good idea there.
Thanks, I thought so....

The reason to do this as opposed to carrying a Long gun or a scyth or a mace or any of the other suggestions so far is that I feel that it would make a more profound statement showing that a side arm is nothing more than a 'COMMON' tool. Use an every day object to desensitize the masses to the thought. Make it comical and it will stick in peoples heads. If I go around carrying my saddle rifle (which i have done a few times for various reasons...) or any other 'weapon' and the uneducated/uninformed masses will still see me as some loon with a weapon, where a hammer at my side is non offensive, I can carry it anywhere legally, and it will draw the curious and cause conversation in a positive light.

Mike, John, other activists....? I'm actually getting oddly serious about this... The SCCC does the 'empty holster' why shouldn't we have our own trademark? It doesn't have to be a hammer, but a hammer is cheap and easy to carry in the same way that we carry our guns!

You can get belt slide carriers/holsters for many tools.

I've been thinking about doing something alog these lines except I wasn't going to carry a tool.

Let's say someone confronts me about the gun on my hip, and tells me guns should banned because they kill. First I'd tell them that guns don't kill, people use them to kill. Then I'd suggest that if we have to bqan guns because they are used to kill, we should also ban other things. Then take them on a tour of Walmart and point out all the items in the store that have been used to kill people with. We could burn up at least a couple hours brousing all the selfs looking at all the "tools of death".

I'll start carrying a hammer, too! I'm in NC and can already open carry, but our laws put a whole bunch of places off limits. I'll carry a gun on one side and a hammer on the other, lol. We could easily make it a national thing. I'll probably be carrying one of these:

A hammer is one of the deadliest tools that construction workers carry with them constantly. They are very dangerous. The problem is that few people really understand that, and I think hammer OC would be regarded as a joke. Knives or long guns, or maybe even a taser, that's what I would carry if I couldn't have a hand gun but wanted to make a point.
