I am planning a motorcycle trip traversing Death Valley National Park in a couple of days....

IS IT LEGAL TO CARRY IN THE DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL PARK? Restrictions?

What about the smaller communities surrounding specifically LONE PINE?

Only planning 1 night in the Great Republic (LOL) of California....

Should I just unload and lock it up while in the confines of the State?

I have tried to read the various statutes and boy are they one confusing mass of double speak.... almost like they WANT TO HAVE THE SHEEP CONFUSED and to have no RIGHTS!

however: A Law was recently passed that will allow carry in National Parks as long as such carry is not prohibited by State or Local Laws. This Law takes effect in Feb 2010.

You can UOC in the park. You may be able to LOC in some of the areas surrounding the park but without extensive research I do not recommend it. Stick with UOC only for now. Unlike Utah, California requires the gun to be completely unloaded for it to be unloaded, not just an empty chamber. Keep the loaded magazines visible on your belt. Don't bring any magazines over 10 rounds into the state. Keep the gun in a locked container if within 1000 feet of a K-12 school.
