This year it runs August 1-14. Started out as a way for parents/guardians to save money on "Back to School" purchases for their kids. So the list of what qualified, was relatively short for some years.

The rules have relaxed and now it applies to pretty much everything except alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and motor vehicles.

So yes, here in Ohio you can buy a "Back to School" gun and boast about it!

NH has a sales tax holiday 24/7/365.

The exception is the Meals & Rooms Tax on prepared foods and short term rentals (less than 30 days). We did reduce the rate on those, though.
