One from the crackberry. I'll upload the other ones later.

A good friend of ours showed up. Didn't even bother getting out of his car to say hi or come steal our food.

It was a good time. To bad that most people I talked to that said they would be there didn't show up. I was glad to see all of you that did show up, I had a really good time. I wish I could have gotten the news there. We should do it again before winter. Maybe a nice fall picnic in Oct. We really need to get a table at the GR gun and Knife show to invite people and spread the word. The next one is next weekend. Let me know what you guys think about another in the fall.

I too liked being able to "meet" some fellow OCers, as i have yet to actually run into one in my daily travels. It's always funny that I know their name from here but then have to put their "real" name with a face. Venator was there... how many miles have you put on your truck now? My hat goes off to him. We all owe him an enormous amount of appreciation for all that he does regarding the furtherance of the RKBA.

Many thanks go out to Smoothsounds21 (and FAMILY) for setting the tables up and ghostrider for getting the information out, Josh for his grilling expertise, and everyone else that played an active role who I may be forgetting... we had a ton of food left over. Smoothsounds, bet your family will be eating hot dogs, watermelon, and chips for quite some time.

I met and talked at length with a person there from the GR Press (a photographer) who had seen the invite on Facebook or Myspace; he has never accessed the OCDO website. I thought it was great that he was OCing. I also met a couple people who stopped by after seeing the invite on Craigslist. They seemed very interested...

I OCd all day, went to a store to pick up some food for the picnic, filled my tank, went to the park, picked up my kids from my parents after the Riverside event, and walked down to the ice cream shop after I got home... OCing 100% of the time. No problems at all, just as it should be.

I too had a great time today at the picnic. Special thanks to Smooghsounds21 for setting it up and getting the word out. Also thanks to all who showed up, especially those who had to travel some distance.

Dr. Todd is right about Venator. He’s invested a lot of time, money, and work into the cause, and we owe him much gratitude for his efforts.

I was also nice to see so much enthusiasm among some of the attendees who are local to the area. I overheard some very proactive discussion on ideas of how to better get the word out. It sounds like people are interested in growing a larger presence in the Grand Rapids area and it will be interesting to watch it develop. Look for more from this group in the future.

I noticed a GR cruiser in the back ground of the pic of the sign. Did he set there, just drive by or walk up and check things out?
Sure wish I could have been there.

He just sat there. One or two people went to talk to him/her, but I don't know what was said.
I talked to him long enough to ask if he was called. He said no he was just checking it out. I then asked if I could take a pic with him and he said sure. That will be on Facebook in a min.

Hey Smoothsounds21,

Is that a Kershaw Needs Work clipped to your pocket? Hard to tell in the photos.
Good eye! Yup its a Kershaw needs work. I love the assisted open Kershaws. I have somewhere around 10 of them.
Kershaw makes a good knife for sure, and you just gotta love the Wharncliff blade.

I owned about three or four Kershaw AO's over the years. The Whirlwind was one of my first quality knives (went through three of them before I got tired of them falling out of my pocket at inoppertune times). Don't have any more, and sold my last assisted opener (Camillus) to a friend a few month's back. Kershaw does a great job grinding the blade. I haven't watched them much since Ken Onion left them, but it should be interesting to see how they'll develop without him, since he was a large part of their design team.
