Well, this in Montana, and of course this forum doesn't get a lot of posts as it is.

Went to town today, and since it had climbed into the 60's, it was hot.. I normally OC around the farm, and sometimes in town, mostly during the summer. I don't write much about it since there isn't much to write...

We went to Target (I stayed in the parking lot since.. long story), then to Murdoch's (farm and ranch), off to Home Depot, and then over to Wal-Mart.

I did get one big surprise. I was telling my wife about TJ, and some of the stuff from the board here, and how TJ uses, or has used, a shoulder rig. Next thing she says is that she thinks that OC'ing with a shoulder rig is SEXY... I tell you what.. I am going to get me a shoulder rig... :)

My wife thinks that a t-shirt and jeans would be fine, as long as they are coordinated properly. I have zero fashion sense, so I will just go with that.

I did end up going to town today and OC'd since now it is really getting hot, at 72 degrees today. I went to Home Depot (more deck stain), over to Wal-Mart for some groceries and camo paint, and then over to Subway with the family for dinner.

I did get a jokingly "do you have a permit for that" comment in Home Depot. I replied that no, dang it, I left it at home.. :) I got another comment about the beefed up security for Wal-Mart while I was leaving the bathroom with my son. My reply there is that I am his (my son) personal bodyguard. I got a strange look to that one.

In Subway there was a guy there with his wife. He noted the pistol, and began muttering to his wife, as he was not pleased. She just shrugged. I was interested to see what might happen, if anything, as this particular one quite frequently has several Highway Patrol officers in it. None were there today.

I been wearing a shoulder rig myself around in Missoula. First time back in Missoula that I have been using one. I love how much more lax montana is about OCing then Seattle area Washington.

You now Craig I haven't had one negative comment while open carrying,

On the other hand I had a woman at a small store in Libby ask what kind of pistol

I was carrying, I told her. Then she asked what I thought of glocks, I told her my Opinion, and mentioned how the M&P has changeable Grips.

I cant wait for my first negative comment.

We just moved to Missoula, MT a few months ago, and all I've had before were CC holsters. I ordered my OC holster a few days ago and plan on being out and about in the next couple weeks. Glad to hear that Montana is more gun friendly than most - but I also do a lot of traveling, so it'll be interesting to note the different responses from different places.

That's NOT fair!! ;) Down here in the s.e. corner, we were supposed to have 72 yesterday and it got to 66! It's supposed to be 80 today, but seeing is believing! :p

Actually, with the cold temps we have been having, I'd much rather that it stay in the low 70's today.

I convinced my husband that it would be wise for me to OC.....not here in Ekalaka....but elsewhere I travel alone. So today, I'm going to a friend's place out in the country and sight in my husband's .357 Ruger for my eyeballs. It's been a llooooonng time since I've done any shooting with a handgun.

CZ, where is a good place in Billings for a shoulder outfit? I can't afford one right away, but want to go looking and trying on. Then I can buy online if I find it less expensive. The husband has doc appts in Billings on the 26th of this month. Thanks for the help.

Greetings here.

Although long time CC permit holder, I sometimes OC but not much, as I just feel it is not nec unless I am carrying my 2" Taurus 44C.44 mag which is not a pocket gun by any means.

MTLaura,

For a shoulder rig you might want to try one of the big box stores like Shiptons Big R, or Big Bear, but I have not seen any Shoulder rigs at them. Since you will be going down town be sure to stop in and see Dave at Beartooth Cash & Gun
3306 2nd Ave N, Billings, MT 59101 406-245-4448, Dave is a great guy and has the best prices in Billings on guns and accessories, it's not a big store but he can get anything you want.
