Was at the Silverdale target this afternoon looking for a photo album for my brother in law that is leaving for Iraq next week and this woman and her daughter turned on the isle I was on, grabbed her daughter, looked at me and said "Don't go down there honey, there is a crazy guy with a gun..." All I could say to her as she left was "Good afternoon!" Now, I don't look that crazy... But seriously? Came home and listened to my recorder, but she was to far away for it to pick up...

Saw her talking to the security guard looking very angry when I left the store, no doubt trying to get him to do something about me and obviously he wasn't going to do anything, because she was beet red and raising her voice, making a bigger scene out of it then I was...

Out of all the OC that I do here in the Kitsap area, I think that is the first obviously negative reaction I have ever had, which it quite remarkable, with the fact that we have quite a few uppity liberals here in the county... I was going to offer her a pamphlet, but had left them in my truck...

Doh! She probably would have maced you if you tried to give her anything. Maybe it's a good thing they were in your truck.

The Security Guard wasn't going to do anything. After all, you had a gun and all he had was a white shirt and an IQ of 80.

As funny as you may think that is, insinuating that somebody is stupidbecause he/she is a Security Guard is insulting. There are multiple OCDO members on this forum who work Security and are anything but stupid.

Not to pile on, but :cuss:

My 7 y/o special needs kiddo has an IQ of between 45-50 (we did it to her by killing her brain with radiation and cancer drugs.) She can do a lot of things, but a lot of things she can't. I happen to have a pretty damn high IQ, have multiple degrees (including a JD) and...well it doesn't matter except to say that I took an armed security course and was going to get my certification and fill in odd jobs for someone as a security guard until some intervening factors stopped that for now...

My point is that to make generalizations about someone because of a) their job or b) their IQ just ain't right.

Hence, the "esq" at the end of your username! I missed it.

Glad to have you aboard.

For any that don't recognize it,JD means juris doctor. A doctorate in law.

There are two types of security...One is real, one a chimp can do... Standing there in a white shirt and plastic badge and un-ironed pants with your vans on is one thing, most of the time they aren't even paying attention to what is going on. Doing real private protection is a whole different story, and I have the utmost respect for the people that do that. I do have a hard time looking at the guy with his finger in his nose (actually seen this in Marysville) seriously as a security professional... And I will stand by that statement.

The guy at target is acutally a decent guy, does't really do much. I deal with him on a professional basis quite often, but he doesn't know that. I would venture a guess that he knows the law, and knows target policy so that goes for something...
