Remember remember...ok I wont.

But the 10th of Nov. should be our next meet. It has also been suggested to me that we have this meet in Overland Park, Kansas on account of them lifting the ban on OC. I think this is a wunderbar idea!

Now we just need a place to eat. Overland Park is full of good restaurants but we need to make sure they are 2A friendly. Also this plan may change as there seems to be some political and social backlash regarding the new OC freedom. (see link: http://www.kansascity.com/2012/10/23/3881245/overland-park-to-reconsider-details.html)

Either way, while or if we can we ought to.

So, Répondez s'il vous plaît (u. A. w. g) below.

I'm a negative, Ghostrider. I don't like missing these at all, but I'll gladly miss it for opening day of deer season.

Also, in light of that negativity, that meeting might be a good time to get the media involved, as someone suggested last time. Show the public their worries are baseless.

Getting the media involved? Are you sure that's such a good idea? The media have constantly proven they are "left wing" and totally against guns and gun ownership. How are you so sure they won't turn it into something that could make gun owners look bad again? When it comes to "open carry," I've never trusted the media.

Call Fox. :) Or way better yet, see if John Stossel will do a special. I'd probably skip deer huntin' if that happened.

That is probably not a bad idea. We had the media come out to a meet on the plaza once and the story went pretty well. Anyone can youtube it if they are interested. Anyway if they haven't banned it by then we might just try to do that.

OP's city council is not meeting until the 14th!!!! Wyandotte BBQ if everybody is up for bbq again...there's not really any buffets in OP unless you want Chinese.......I think media could be a good thing right before a city council meeting about restricting OC!!!!!!!!!!

Negative for me as well, deer season takes priority this time of year. Both school and work take a back seat for a few days while I reconnect with nature. Hope to see you all next time.

We are going to have to pass since its in Ks. Because as I do not have a CCW and not a fan of trying to get it loaded and in a holster out side of my car. If any one is doing some kind of meet for us that do not have a permit I will galdly show up on missouri side. Hope the meet goes well on the Kansas side this month.

Justin, you don't need a permit to open carry in Overland Park or on the Missouri side. You only need a CCW permit if you're going to conceal carry.

For those who do not deer hunt.... It's like the Jeep thing, you just don't understand, sorry.

It's like New Years, Thanksgiving, and your best Birthday all rolled into one!

My understanding is that in Mo. You carry how you wish in your car but once you get out of the car then it dependes on the cty your in. But Ks is that you need a CCW to carry a loaded firarm in your car within reach and then out side of the car it depends on the city you are in. How do you go about getting a unloaded gun loaded and in a holster out side of your car with out breaking some sort of law or being way in the gray area of the law?

You're right about one thing. In certain cities, you cannot carry a loaded firearm on your person. Those cities are:
Leawood
Prairie Village
Kansas City, Kansas (or anywhere within Wyandotte County)
Mission Hills
Gardner-Edgerton ("brandishing a firearm in public view)
Lenexa

In cities that allow open carry, you are able to carry a loaded firearm on your person both in and outside of your vehicle so long as you keep your gun holstered at all times and the safety on your weapon engaged. In that respect, it would be advisable that you load and holster your weapon BEFORE you leave your place of residence. The laws for open carry recently changed so that citizens now have the rights to open carry a loaded firearm for their personal protection if they so choose. Accepting for the cities mentioned above, everywhere else is usually considered legal. Unless you're going to carry concealed, you don't need a CCW permit.

I believe you see right about car carry, loaded and within reach requires a CCW, I have mine, so I didn't read the exact rules carefully once I knew I was legal. Double check...

I am afraid KCGUNFAN has it wrong. We are talking "open carry" and this isn't Missouri we're talking about, it's Kansas. You DO NOT require a CCW permit to "open carrying your vehicle or in public. Justin, do not listen to KCGUNFAN. He has no idea what he is talking about.
