Some day he's going to do that to the wrong person, an MMA fighter, or a martial arts black belt...
Or me.

Grab me from behind and you get 7rds of .380 TCP in your groin. Femoral Artery FTW.

The soft spot they always forget. Especially bigshots like this guy. It's a great shot to take because if you miss, you're pointing downwards and unlikely to hurt any bystanders. From crossdraw, the way I OC, my right hand would be free to draw from my rear pocket... He didn't even try to get it right. Arrogance is usually thier downfall...

Frankly, wish it would have happened. This "Officer" is a cancer and the world would be a better place for his absence.

Too bad there is a non-disclosure... I'd like to know precisely how much less than dead he managed to get away with.

[...] Once you seen he was a cop, you must stop period. There can be no further action taken, you verbally warn him to stop and if he does not. Let the authorities deal with it. [...]

What happens if you retain your weapon, push him away, draw and turn around.

At which point you see he's a cop, but HE starts to draw

?

Nightmare situation.

You would probably try to release or holster your weapon - while he shot you. His cheif would laud the officer for his bravery and lambast your dead corpse for it's foolishness.

Well done, congratulations! :)

Very happy;

Haz. :)

Does one of the members have access to PACER (Federal Court docket system) for this case, and read /advise what the monetary settlement was and who paid what? The Plaintiff can't say, because that is part of the stipulated settlement. That does not stop anyone else from posting it here.

Shoot him.

Still self defense. Better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6, as they say.

It started out as an assault, and an attempted weapons grab, you turned around and saw a gun pointed at you, you fired.

I don't get why someones clothing or occupation comes into play....

I took a quick look and don't see that kind of information included in the court documents. I don't think it typically is, otherwise the non-disclosure agreements would be kind of pointless.

The way it typically goes is that the settlement is negotiated outside of court, all parties at the signing are bound to silence, the money changes hands quietly, and then the court is told that the case has settled and should be dismissed. The number doesn't generally enter the court's record, so looking there would not obtain it. Where the settling defendant is a government entity, you can try to FOIA them and try to find out how much they paid but for private defendants there's nothing.
