This might clarify a couple things.

Carry a weapon for self defense, carry a video camera for cash.

...Most importantly, this is a victory for all open-carriers, especially the people of New Orleans Louisiana- a city that obvious cannot dictate who can and cannot carry a firearm and write their own laws on the fly. As for me, I have the satisfaction to look back and say: "No sir, your understanding is WRONG".

Indeed, and I thank you for pursuing this. Make sure to update the original video description with the just outcome that it may serve as a deterrent to any other "Sgt. Bowsers" out there.

Of course, the settlement money didn't come from his own pocket, but the humiliation of being proven incorrect (after such an arrogant display of false claims and admissions captured forever on video) may cause the next officer to at least pause and consider the personal ramifications of such unwarranted and dangerous choices and actions.

Well done!

I can see he won by the comments, but he deleted his post. What was the judges ruling, etc?

People - it is clear (to most I hope) there was some type of non disclosure clause in Monaco's settlement agreement. He cannot disclose anything or risk losing what he was awarded. So let's just be happy that the Sarg didn't get off completely free of blame. Hopefully he lost his extra gig as a whole foods ninja over this asshattery on his part. ;)

Is a police officer allowed to wear his work uniform when not on duty and when being paid by another company to provide security? This seems like something a PD would seriously frown upon as it may misrepresent their department.

Many LEA have working arrangements to provide off duty officers as security on private property and yes wearing their customary uniform.
