Help Needed to Fight Gang Problem

snipet from http://www.nbc15.com/home/headlines/Help_Needed_to_Fight_Gang_Problem_104832229.html

"POSTED: Tuesday, October 12, 2010 --- 9:45 p.m.

Gang issues are front and center in Southern Wisconsin.

Officers are reaching out for help to fight a problem they say they can't stop alone.

Drugs, graffiti, guns and gangs, they go hand in hand and they're in our neighborhoods.

It's a problem for more than just police officers.

Parent David Eppihimer says, "I think as a parent it's a big concern. I just want to be sure he's safe."

Gang numbers continue to increase in communities across our area and tonight the Janesville PD gang unit wants parents to know about it. They aren't holding anything back."

Wanna bet? Carry a gun, legally, to one of their show-ups. When the graffiti appears then it's too late. BTDT I wore my "I (heart) guns and coffee" to Northern Idaho and my Portland/Seattle nieces and nephews thought it "cool" but know nothing about the event.

gotta love the gang influence. Here's one for you;

yesterday, we put our garbage out curbside. half way through the day someone comes in and says; hey, your garbage is on fire. we go out, and pull a piece of burning paper out of it, and put it out. What's on the paper?

a notice from a school that some kid has been thrown out for gang affiliation.

It's harder to quit Vicodin than just about anything.

There must be something to that "addictive personality" theory, 'cause I've never been addicted to anything (alcohol, caffein, nicotine, or prescription drugs) even though I've had some VERY nice painkillers from time to time, thankyouverymuch, including vicoden. (Most recently for a kidney stone. Yes, it's worse than childbirth, for several reasons.)

After having morphine in the ER and instantly not being in pain, I understand addiction, I understand wanting that relief; I just don't do it. I don't like being in pain even more than I don't like the fuzzy-headed feeling from drugs, so I take the drugs as long as I need to, but only as long. Actually, I'm kinda stubborn about taking them when I might need them.

A friend of mine who's a cop told me once what the going rate for some prescription drugs on the street was, & I about choked on my tea. With the various leftovers I have from an assortment of injuries I could make quite a bundle!

North Bend is a very very small town about 12-15 miles from me. "Nothing" ever happens in a small rural town, does it? Maybe he should have been carrying!

I am about the same distance Krusty,over in the Burr Oak area, and I will say I had gotten a little relaxed lately, sometimes not holstering until after breakfast and in the evening I was in the habit until lately of keeping my sidearm close by even when already in my pj's. This incident has me back on alert. This area has always had burglaries off and on and there is a fair amount of illegal drug activity as well. I have also had some carloads of shady characters stop by looking for the 'strip club'. Just gave my wife a refresher on the shotgun as well and put my kids on alert to be aware of our surroundings.
