I went to my local Vintage Stock in MWC and they had a "No Weapons" sign posted. I talked to the lady who claimed to be the shift manager (sadly I didn't think to ask her name until I was driving away) and she said that this is corporate policy and it is because it is a "kid" store and that they could grab a weapon or be influenced or something. I figured I would post this so that anyone else who likes the stuff that they sell would be aware. Also below is the "contact us" that I just sent to corporate. Supposedly they will get back to me within 48 hours, but we will see.

What is the corporate policy on firearms at your stores? Specifically, do you force law-abiding citizens to be defenseless in your stores (as the criminals won't follow signs banning weapons), follow state laws on the matter, or allow stores to make their on policy on the matter?

I ask as my local store in Midwest City, OK has a sign banning weapons and the person who claimed to be the manager said that this was corporate policy.

If this is corporate policy then I would like to both ask you to consider letting law-abiding citizens defend theirselves while in your stores, and let you know that should it stay the policy I'll be letting various gun-rights organizations know so that people who care about their rights and self-defense know to shop elsewhere. If this isn't corporate policy I would like that information as well so that should my local store refuse to remove the sign I can show them the actual policy to have the sign removed.

"Vintage" stuff. I go there typically to look at SNES video games, but they have plenty of other non-current consoles, vinyls, Magic: The Gathering cards, DVDs, and other things. Outside of the various video games and Magic cards I haven't really looked around though as those are the only things I'm interested in there. I was there looking for an SNES video game today but didn't go past the front counter. Also the manager refused to take a "no guns=no money" card to give to anyone above her.

This is a little strange to me. We have several VS's here in Tulsa. They don't have any no gun signs up, and I have carried at all but one location I think. Nobody ever said a word to me, and they were well aware I was carrying.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a local policy. I've given corporate a week to get back to me so I'm going to try contacting them again when I get home from work today.

That's what I was thinking. Generally nerds, and "vintage" consumers like, and appreciate guns in my experience.

I got a response today regarding this matter. Corporate policy is no guns. Below is their response followed by my response. Also note that I have contacted the "Friend or Foe" website to find out if there's an easy way to add a whole corporation to the list regardless of if an individual store is posted or not.

Vintage Stock Reply:

Corporate policy is that we do not allow guns in our stores. We recognize that the bad guys do not follow the rules but we are also aware that our employees and customers are uncomfortable with guns in our stores. Many states have open carry laws but allow establishments to circumvent by displaying stickers on their doors. Thank you for your concern. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any other concerns. I appreciate the fact that you took the time to contact us.

My Response:

Thank you for responding. While I respect your choice to ban guns as a private business, I am sorry to say that I shall be taking my future business elsewhere. I shall also be informing several gun groups of your anti-self defense position and updating the online pro/anti-self defense listing so that others can more easily know of your company's position regarding this. Again, thank you for responding to me regarding this manner.

Oh we'll, so much for vintage stock

My wife and I just took a trip to vintage stock yesterday, only to find out at the door they had put up a fresh no gun sticker. Sucks to be them.
