I think I understand your suggestion. The info your quoting is a "quick summary" by no means is it meant to be all inclusive or descriptive. It's only meant to be a quick reference and "safe" approach. Thats why most of the real statutes are listed for reference and research.

I just added a link to a thread I posted about useful info needed to defend yourself. It's right under the links for the statutes, titled "Need to Defend yourself"

Hi Tom!

Thank you for the info! I've searched everywhere for a comprehensive list like this!
Welcome to the forum, Tom! Take a good look around, there is a lot of valuable information at your fingertips. There are also lots of opportunities to meet up with old-timers and newbies alike; either over coffee, ice cream, or a meal. In addition we are an active group with many meet-ups where we give something back to the community, like our Adopt-a-Highway program. I hope to see you around Wisconsin in the future! :D

Count on it! I'm going to try and make it out to the Highway project, and I'm also going planning on making it out to the meet and greet this Sunday too. Can't wait to start meeting people!

Great! Thanks for deciding to be an active participant in our group. Remember, family members are always welcome at our get-togethers, too. :D

I'm curious- what limits are there to what you can OC? (handguns only, long guns, NFA, etc)
(It really wouldn't make much sense to carry that type of stuff I know, but just curious about what the law says)

Theoretically, you can open carry everything you mentioned. With long guns you even get the bonus of being able to into bars without asking permission. Of course you still need tax stamps for the fun stuff and follow all the laws pertaining to Open Carry; School zones, government buildings, etc.

Realistically, if you are taking a stroll especially in Madison or Milwaukee with your SBR'd and suppressed AR expect an encounter with some freaked out dudes with badges and possibly some guys with SWAT written across their chest.

With a concealed carry permit you may only carry pistols concealed or in prohibited places. As an aside AR and AK pistols meet the letter of the law.

Edited to add:
I see your fairly new here, Welcome to the forum!
