Any move entails a lot of technical details and I suspect we will encounter a few issues as the new server goes live. Please be patient with us. It will be worth it! :) Please help by posting all issues here.

Those of you who have been on this site for a while either know about, or have at least read mention of my unlawful arrest and ensuing court proceedings for OCing this past summer. If you have not, you can read all about it in the "Man Arrested for Open Carry" thread under the Alabama forum.

Well, this incident was only an affirmation of the common belief that OC is de-facto outlawed in our Alabama the Beautiful. Though this is not necessarily the case in the criminal code or the state courts, this is how LEO recieve it here, and it has discouraged many of us to the point that we don't OC at all outside of our homes.

It is my pleasure to announce that several members of OCDO are tired of sitting around and bitching about it. We're ready to do something about the blatant disregard for citizens' rights in our state. We have taken it upon ourselves to form what we call The Alabama Firearm Rights Assocation (http://alabamafirearmrights.org). Our goal is to eventually have an extensive website with information about ALL aspects of the pro 2a agenda and a discussion forum, much like the setup we have here at OCDO. We have already drafted many educational documents for LE and civilians alike, and are excited about the opportunity to make a difference in the Heart of Dixie.

On behalf of the ALFRA, I would like to thank Mike and John for providing people like us with a place where we could meet and accomplish such a feat. We hope we have the support of those members here from whom we've all learned so much! We are all in this fight together, and I personally would be honored to have such an ally as OCDO.
