As the owner of the judge I hope everyone had fun playing with it. What a blast! First time shooting it and I must have shot 20-25 rounds through it and my hands feel fine. The ribber grips feel fine and no pain at all.Wish I had brought the 45 colt ammo for it, I will next time.;)
Didn't shoot the derringer but that thing is a little cannon.:D

Sorry I couldn't stay for breakfast, way to crouded for me. Felt better as soon as I stepped outside.

Thanks everyone for the brass, especially radnor. If I didn't thank you at the range I'll say it here. Thanks again. As soon as my press comes in the mail I'll start reloading.:celebrate

The Judge only handles the 2 3/4 shells, couldn't wait for the newer one that handles 3". Looking at the rounds I have for the 45 colt. Most are 'cowboy' rounds. Very mild loads. I'm looking for somthing around 200-250 gr jhp's for it but they are very expensive.

Once my reload press comes in I'll shoot the 'cowboys' and make something that has some kick.

I had a great time. Im glad I could meet you all. I hope you guys don't think Im full of BS, Im just a young guy and I don't know my way around as much yet ;)

Anyway, Saturday was awesome on the pistol range, but the rifle side was a little disappointing for me. Unfortunately a bunch of my Lake City brass was steel cored and I had to stop shooting. I'd really like to let everyone burn up the .223 stuff, because shooting it is fun. The bad part is cleaning them :banghead:

Luckily, a friend of mine that does reloading and works at DAFB went shooting down in bridgeville on Sunday. So I got to go down there and make up time. I shot my M4, Glock 19, and Kimber 1911 at the 25 and 50 yard range, and then my M4 at 100 yards. Everything looked really good at the 50 yard range, I even hit 6/8 with my 1911 at 50 yards! Moved over to the 25 yard range and I couldnt get a group smaller than my palm for the love of the Easter Bunny.:cuss:I even ran through a qualification course for myself and shot 28/40. Not good.

At the 100 yard range I could hit with the scoped weapons that he brought. One guy was even down there with an m16 with a 18x scope and a 20" barrel and I was shooting quarters at 100 yards. With my iron sights at 100 range I couldnt even find the paper. I still shot about 50 rounds and decided to give it a rest as I had double vision from staring down the tiny reticle for about an hour.

Bridgeville is an awesome range and Id love for you guys to come down some time for a day trip/BBQ thing this spring/summer. They have Pistol Pits all the way up to a 1000 yard range they are building.

And now I know a lot of you guys do reloading. Ill save my .223 Lake City Brass and anything else you guys want. I buy bulkoff cheaperthandirt.com and the brass is pretty good. Just let me know.

Just starting with reloading and I don't own a .223 yet but if you find any 9mm, .45acp or 45 colt I'll gladly find a good use for that.

I'm not sure what rifle will be next, more like a .308 or 30-06.

after you folks left the range to me and my gal I picked up my 223 brass. I saw the steel case on the ground and I arrived in time to see the goofy range master magnet test your ammo. there was plenty of 9mm brass on the ground. glad you waited at IHOP for me Just kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!

I find/prefer commerical .223 range pickups easier to reload, but I don't pass up LC brass. I general give the foreign stuff ( boxer )away as I have broken a few die pins already.

gius finally nice to meet you after breakfast

It's not the cases he is worried about, NO steel projectiles. They mess up the back stop more than lead. Hey, I'm all for no steel projectiles personally. Were you shooting there when it was closed down for replacing the back stop? What a PITA! Think it was like 6 mos to order and get it in and seemed like 3 more until it was installed!

I didn't know if it was your ammo or someone else's that said!

having reloaded for ten years plus I know he ( goofy ) was not checking steelcases he was checking the projectiles I heard him say the projectilessparked againstthe backstop obviously the projectileshad steel cores. a no no as related by a menber here before the shoot on saturday as in no steel projectiles!!

cleaning cases can be easy, just get a small franklin tumbler and Franklin treated media from Midwayand let the cases run for four plus hours. they come out like new brass. I punch the primers out first then lube and run through the die, then tumble. load then, wipe with a old towel and box like factory and mark the box

I think I mis-stated what I was trying to get across. I didnt know that what I had was steel cored - it was my understanding when I bought the ammo that a small amount of it (About 60 rounds) was steel CASED. Turns out that a lot of LC stuff is heavy iron/steel content or something (basically the cheapest trash they can get). Had to look that up in the AFMAN 91-201.:p

In any case I meant the 'cleaning is the hard part' about cleaning the damn star chamber on any M16 variant.. thats a 1-3hr journey depending on your armourer and yourself.

Anyway, I dont think Ill be going to Ommelanden to shoot rifle any more anyway, Bridgeville is so much nicer - dirt backstops, usually very few people there if any, and you can do pretty much whatever you want as long as you are safe.

Star chamber? Are you referring to the barrel extension that the bolt locks into? Don't worry about getting it squeaky clean. We stopped those stupid white glove inspections in the arms room a long time ago. More importantly is to clean the outer surface of the bolt and the inner surface of the bolt carrier. All thecarbon gets dumped there as it is the end of the line for the gas system. Makes sure that the gas rings are staggered.Replace them one a year if you do any real shooting.

Yep. We called that the 'star chamber' because it kinda looks like a little star on the end of the bolt/firing pin carrier. Always a pain in the neck to clean. But you're right. As long as it's not disgusting, it's fine. :D
