Here's a handy little site for "seeing" where the crimes have been happening in NCC. You can enter an address, or just pan around the map. I've been using this feature ever since it was put online for the public. You gotta love GIS.

It's quite a nice tool if you're thinking about moving to a certain area, drive through a certain area, work in a certain area, and even exercise/walk in certain areas. It'll show you rather quickly if an area is "nice" or "bad" ...

If you were looking for any "justification" for carrying a gun somewhere, this'll help your "case" LOL.

Enjoy!

pretty interesting stuff. I forwarded it on to my brother who is looking to buy a house.
I've used it when my fiancee was looking to buy her first house. She'd tell me an address of a house she was interested in, and I'd look up the crime mapping for the area and let her know. She dropped some of the houses off her list just because of the crime!

Does anyone know if the state or city of Wilmington has one like the county map? I liked how the county showed where and what type of crime. One robbery in my neighborhood looked much better then the news journal color that listed 3-9 for a much larger area then what I consider my neighborhood.
I like that county map and the detail. Don't think it includes state police and they both cover my neighborhood. I know the state only covers the state roads around me and it's more vehicular.

I just called theWilmington Police and left a message w/ the Master Sargeant in the Public Info Office asking that question. I'll let you know his response.

I'll check on the State Police, too....

Update: Just got off the phone w/ the DSP (someone from Troop 1). Sounds like the State doesn't have something like this available due to how each police dept works w/ others depending on where they are. Many towns have their own police "force" and they report to DIAC (Delaware Information Analysis Center) which handles all of Delaware. Most of the DIAC's work in confidential and only disseminated to Law Enforcement.

I decided to call the DSP POI anyway. I've left a message w/ themand will let you know what they say.
