Let me start of by saying that there are some assumptions being made here on my part. I think you will get the picture as you read this.
I recently attended a Boy Scout court of honor. My entire family was there because my son was receiving the last of his 21 required badges for Eagle. I was carrying concealed as I typically do.
Plastic stacking chairs were set up in rows in the church basement. The chairs have an open back that you can see through. I chose the last row figuring no one would be behind me. One family came in relatively late. Parents of a Scout in the Troop. Dad is a cop in the city the event was being held in. I have spoken to him casually when he has been around at regular meetings which is not often and never in depth. He knows my son is the senior patrol leader and runs the Troop.
The cop and his family proceed to grab extra chairs and add a row behind me. During the event I realized that the but of my Glock is printing through my fleece vest. The cop is sitting at the perfect angle to see my strong side. I adjusted my self, wished I had draped my coat over the back of the chair rather than hang it up on the rack and said to myself, "oh well if he noticed it is no big deal, I am not doing anything wrong".
Now the event is over and I head out to the parking lot to get the car and bring it over to the door to load the family because it was cold, windy and the lot was all ice. Outside I overhear the cop talking to the assistant scoutmaster about "carry permits" and "causing alarm". Obviously it wasn't a conversation I was involved in and I almost made a beeline for them and said something to the effect, Are you talking about me?
I just decided to go on about my business and no one has said diddly squat to me since. I my mind what was being said between the cop and the asst. scoutmaster can't just be a coincidence. I figured the cop noticed I was carrying and was in some form registering a concern or a complaint with the asst. scoutmaster. The asst. scoutmaster who has a carry permit and knows I do too.
I guess if that really was the case the cop didn't want to confront me.
