MWAG sparks lock-down

Seeing as the last article I posted from the local paper only gave part of the story, this may or may not be accurate but for what it's worth...

On Monday afternoon, Sept. 29, at approximately 1:52 p.m., the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department received a pair of calls reporting a male subject walking near downtown Westby carrying what appeared to be an assault rifle.......As a precautionary measure the Sheriff’s Department notified the Westby Area School District and administration placed the Westby schools in a temporary lock down. At the same time a number of area businesses went into a self initiated lock down while the search continued in and around downtown Westby.

Shouldn't schools always be secure? The gov't forces the kids to go there for the most part but then when a shooter is there they don't blame themselves .. but others not even related to the shooting.

When I asked for records they called me a monster .... the attny general, on record in a civil case....

So someone carrying a firearm legally is cause to lock down a school? There is too much fail here.

My wife is a school District Administrator. Not at Westby. I believe two open doors for the public you have to be buzzed in. The third goes through her secretaries office, and is not locked.

This is after school starts and does not account for someone opening a door or propping one open. Probably 100 doors in building and I doubt it is actually secure. Deliveries, people leaving and such, I bet you could get in unnoticed without too much difficulty.

She has her CCL, carries when not on school biz, but doesn't really want any guns in the building. They do have a gun show there once a year, I believe. The Board has ultimate say on this normally.

I OC all over town, 99 percent of people don't know me yet as connected to her and I'm trying to keep it that way. No issues, but only a handgun. Businesses shutting down? Wow!

Follow up with LaX Trib reports this was a man returning a BB (BeBe? theirs) gun to a neighbor that he had borrowed and walked it back. Classic over reaction by gunaphobes. It did say the police interviewed both callers, but did not give me the impression that they were going to be forced to attend firearm identification classes. Apparently he was well over 1000 feet from any school and headed AWAY from the school. Gotta wonder the cost of all of this in manpower, lost business, unneeded stress, and who knows what else all due to somebody panicking. I'd be willing to bet the calls were NOT unrelated and that one person called the other person and told/asked them to call as well.

Im not claiming responsibility for creating the trend, but when the names and info of the Wausau callers were released, massa Doug had a world class fit. Even got himself a new sock puppet that day. For being so pro-2a, he sure gets riled up when someone exposes the antis. Curious...
