'Senator X reminds me of the putrid slime that clings to the walls of Hell."
Is the poster saying he likes the slime, or is he equating Senator X with something disgusting that he despises? It would seem to me that anyone with an IQ over 65 would see the metaphor is made to spread the worst possible light on the Senator by equating him to something despicable.

"Police officers Smith and Jones of New Orleans were convicted of brutal activity that is reminescent of the worst action by the SS in World War II." Talking to 'specific,' identified abuse by a person or group of people who violated civil or basic human rights of others in a manner that has much in common with the Nazis. This is not pro-Nazi, it equates one evil with another, metaphorically speaking, and again anyone who is not a complete moron should be able to make the distinction. When I compare the actions of rogue cops to the SS or SA, I put them on the same level as the Nazis. That is hardly complimenting the Nazis. And in fact, the so called "thin, blue line" of cops looking out for cops irrespective of the offense committed is virtually covered by words in the Horst Wessel Lied. That I point it out is not making the SA look good by comparing them to rogue cops, it is condemnation of the cops that put them in the comparison.

That's enough explanation for anyone with half a brain. Unfortunately, some self righteous prigs on this forum lack even that fractional intelligence. Someone working on what, an AA in Criminal Justice, is the arbitrator of what RAS is even when his "neutral stance "logic is shoved down his throat. But his "many friends," with their dozens of posts, follow him as he makes himself a bigger and bigger fool. "In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king." And in the land of the halfwits, the .667 wit must also be.

My last comment on this subject, which I wouldn't even be making were it not for the .667wit's thread about me and the "Nazis." He is a humorless, egotistical--with no tangible support except his delusional world wherein he is Clarence Darrow, zero--although I tried to reach out to him, and not worth the time of day in the future.

And some just suffer so bad from "copafilia" and love of government they will never accept that many of the actions of our government and their Police forces are very similar if not exactly like many aspects of Nazi Germany.

Or, perhaps more precisely, that some behaviors of men are not limited to Nazis, Stalinists, Maoists, Khymer Rouge, etc.

There is absolutely nothing about America that automatically makes certain behaviors impossible. Men are men. A certain percentage will demonstrate those behaviors regardless of the name of the regime or government for who they work.

True, you can even observe some of these traits on a playground in a school yard amongst the kids playing.

The metaphors are useful though to keep what can happen when these folks with these traits are allowed to have their way or gain power in mind.

"Friede wenn möglich, aber Wahrheit auf jeden Fall."

Martin Luther

Unfortunately, some turn the phrase around. The "peace" of the graveyard is hardly to be desired, just as the "safety" of the concentration camp. Truth does stand on its own merits, however.

For non-German speakers: : "Peace, if possible, but truth at all costs."
