I was perusing the magazine section of the store this afternoon and came upon a Massad Ayoob article on open carry. He listed 5 OC accounts of guns being stolen or other things. Most were pretty bad examples. Neighbors strapping on and confronting other neighbors and such. Also the open carrier that was stolen from and followed the perps into the gas station and was killed. All in all was a pretty unprofessional article from him in my opinion.

sorry ayoob
1. mistakes the 2015 tampa incident as OC when in fact the victim was concealed at the entrance of Wally world the assailant watched the victim holster the firearm at his car in the parking lot and followed him then attacked him

http://www.tampabay.com/news/public...-at-walmart-attacked-by-vigilante-for/2214432

2. the 2011 Richmond victim who had his handgun taken at e gas station perhaps should not have chased after the assailant who took his gun.

3. unable to locate the two (2) in indiana that ayoob states "...come to mind..."

oh sorry, op thisthe cite to the article you referenced?

The article is incorrect, the victim OCing for the first time and with a non retention holster, got into a shoving match and his gun fell out. The bg picked it up and ran away. Victim chased him and got shot for his efforts - information came from the shop keeper and the man's wife.

I suspect MAS is hard pressed for material and didn't do his fact checking.

There are virtually no genuine gun snatches - even if there were a few, compare those with hundreds of thousands of OC events where that does not occur = .00001%

The only genuine snatch I have ever seen reported was in a McDonalds - good guy stuck his pistol unprotected in his back packet, butt projecting out. BG grabs it and runs.

A fine example of bias. Just because Ayoub is "expert" on some things does not make him unbiased. He is well-known as an opponent of allowing others to do as they wish -- i.e. open carry.

Want to listen to him about hitting the target -- fine.

Anything else, he's no more "expert" than any other Joe Schmuckapelli.

PS - my grandmother used to say an "ex" is a has-been, and a "spert" is a drip under pressure.

MAS does make a highly qualified expert (certified by numerous courts) in the field self-defense shootings......but expect to pay a premium for his services.

Yes, Tess, he has a strong bias against OC w/o a doubt.
