Anyone else tracking this on TV right now? 1 gunman 4-6 shots a few kids wounded. Gunman then shoots himself.

All over fox and CNN right now.

Watching the live stream right now. This is the worst possible timing for a school shooting. Emotions are going to be running high and the anti-gun zealots are going to jump all over this. This isn't going to help defeat I-594. We had a good chance but now I'm worried for real.

Hope no one on here has family there.

This will certainly not help defeat any bad legislation.

Just heard a kid called his mother and said it was a "boy" that did it.

Terrible thing to happen at any time. Sure is strange that some of these things happen at times that are critical to politics.

I never go to "twitter", but did today. Combing through and putting together with witness' saying his name on national TV. A 9th grade Native American kid apparently killed his friend/cousin over a girl and kept shooting I guess. This kid was messed up for quite a while judging by comments on his twitter account.

So how exactly is it that background checks could have helped out in this situation? Was this kid old enough to walk into a store and purchase a firearm legally? Could he have purchased one from a gun show? Did he purchase it online? This is a bad thing that has happened. But I-594 could not have prevented it. He either stole a gun or got one from somebody who knew that he shouldn't have one.

Maybe I'll seem callous and heartless in saying this, but sh*t happens and bad/crazy people exist. There is very little that a law or regulation can do to keep people from acting on unstable illogical thoughts. The only thing that I can possibly think of that may have prevented this is if there was an armed good guy at the school that could have stopped the threat before he hurt innocent kids.

Unfortunate fact - GFZ contribute, provide the victim rich environment that such loose cannons desire. Gun laws only restrict the law abiding, but do nothing to stop the deviant from obtaining the means to cause havoc.

It is almost impossible to stop killings like this. You might stop the shooting sooner but unless there is some kind of warning or you are standing right next to the shooter and see him draw he is going to get off some shots before you can react.

They dance in the blood of our children. They are truly monsters.

Robert, you have merely scratched the surface. There's more:

Another rally for gun control, another Wash. sheriff against it

While backers of billionaire-funded Initiative 594 are planning one more rally this Saturday – using the Marysville-Pilchuck school shooting as something of a campaign prop – another county sheriff has joined 26 of his colleagues to oppose the measure.

I-594 campaign recruits Montana anti-gun Moms, says sheriffs ‘spread lies’

Members of the Montana Chapter of Moms Demand Action are being recruited for a telephone blitz of Washington voters this evening to promote Initiative 594 on the heels of an e-mail yesterday from the Washington Alliance for Gun Responsibility (WAGR) that alleges the “gun lobby” has “so much power that they've gotten your sheriff to spread their lies about Initiative 594 to voters.”

Dave, heard you and the anti guy on kgmi this morn. Good job representing Truth.

LEOs who are "on the job" all seem to reject 594. The only LEOs I see supporting it are the "retired" (not on the job) being paid by bloomburg.
