The guy is an idiot for not leaving when asked (stolen gun aside) but the real question is why'd they ask him to leave in the first place?

That's a smart one -- OCing a stolen gun!

The way I read it, the Walmart manager identified the caliber of the OC'd gun as a .45 and informed the po-po on arrival of this. Then the OCer stepped out of his vehicle in the parking lot OC a .380. Soooo I have to ask, how did the manager know the caliber of the original OC'd gun whilst it remained at all times in holster while in store? Perhaps the OC'r was a bit too OPEN with his first ammendment rights?

Yeah stolen gun aside (not "on your side") the question I have, how exactly did the exchange go down with the manager and the OC'r? (as we are only hearing KATC.com take on this story.) often times its not as straight forward as what is represented in this story.

Manager: "you must leave our store or you will be tresspassed."
OC'er: "No."

There is this OC video from youtube that makes this point very clear. It showcases the point that the store manager and/or security lack the intestinal fortitude to DIRECTLY ask some one to leave the store and rather skirt around the point by saying things such as "our policy is no guns", or "I can ask you to leave for the day" (but he didn't DIRECTLY do it.), or "you can put it in your vehicle." which again is not directly asking the OCr to leave. Next they tell the OCr to stay and wait for the cops. By the time the cops get there the security and the manager could have said "we asked him to leave 10 minutes ago, and he is still here, arrest him for tresspass."

This one will be interesting to watch unfold.

Stupid to argue with the manager, stupider yet to do so with a stolen gun.

Get the manager's name, store # and send an email to WM corp office.

Did he know the gun was stolen? That is the magical question? This is a problem with buying a used gun, unless you have the local PD run the numbers, and then you involve the gov in your purchase.

Mr. Dore was arrested by the PD.

Dore, Joshua
Age: 28
1700 Blk E Butcher Switch ROA
Lafayette, La
Illegal Possession Of Stolen F
Arresting Agency: Lafayette City Pd

Here's an interesting article and video sparked by Mr. Dore's arrest...

Check out the DA's comment about carrying a shotgun around in your hand.

From what I can tell, Mr. Dore made several mistakes.
1. Did not leave private property when asked
2. Consented to a vehicle search
3. Possessed a stolen weapon found during the search for which he was arrested and booked.

Giving Dore the benefit of the doubt concerning the stolen gun, he is still a dork. Not for carrying the gun, but for not leaving when asked by management. Management may have been wrong about store policy, but the best policy when one finds oneself dealing with ignorance, don't. Just leave. If a store doesn't want my armed presence, I will shop elsewhere.

On the Oregon Mall video, isn't it ironic that it was in an Oregon mall that a concealed weapons permit holder ended a mass shooting?
